Men's Ultralight 850 Down Sweater Hooded Jacket is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Get It Forgetting my own advice to people about the cost of many outdoor items– Long after you've forgotten how much something cost, if it was out of your budget range, you should have equipment that could save your neck because it is good and does its job. I was jumpy looking at the cost of this jacket but bought it confident it will go the distance and provide great service. My recent trip through the Grand Canyon on a 14 day raft trip proved its worth- it packed down to a small bundle and the fit & comfort of the jacket was superior to other jackets in my clothing rotation. I'm writing this in October and am looking forward to seeing what winter brings and me in my jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm, Excellent Fit I purchased this jacket last year (March 2020) for myself as a replacement to an oversize 3-in-1 LLB jacket from years prior. I have read stories about leaky seams and fragile outer shell. This hasn't been my experience at all. Throughout the past year, I have worn this jacket with a t-shirt in 25 degree weather with blistering winds and on days with light rain - no issues with cold air bleeding through or staying dry. The hood comes in handy on occasion. The chest pocket is the best spot for really easy access to the cell phone. The jacket is totally washable. I wore it around a camp fire and it soaked in the firewood smoke. I tossed it into the washer with a load of laundry and air dried it. After a wash, the down returns to its original shape without flattening or sagging (which was my biggest fear of washing it). I hope this review helps.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Real thin I’m a true llbean customer. On avg I order 3-4 items a year for the last 6 or so years. This is the first item I’m returning. At this price point, I thought the volume of down was pretty disappointing and not as warm as I desired. Only after of receiving the jacket and seeing how little down there was, did I realize that the 850 rating has nothing to do with quantity of material, but just how compressible it is. It’d be nice if llbean advertised a fill weight because that is what really matters for warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useable jacket for all seasons Despite being a bit pricey, this coat is extremely versatile. Unbelievably lightweight for the warmth level. It can pack into it's own pocket and takes up very little space. It's a great outer layer for chilly days, or a very cozy underlayer that doesn't feel overly bulky whatsoever for those bitter days. Great evening layer for those chilly summer nights, and very stylish as well. It uses a water resistant down that won't clump up and be useless in a little rain. I absolutley love this down sweater and use it all the time, all year round. Go get yourself one!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and light! Great jacket. It's especially warm if you're moving around a lot (i.e. snow-blowing and shoveling in 8deg F weather) and it's quick to dry out after a dusting of snow. I ordered size Tall/Medium to make sure it was long enough in the arms and not too big in the body. It's not as slim in the body as I would like but the arm length is perfect. Also, note that the tall sizes add a couple of inches in length to the bottom of the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An AWESOME jacket I absolutely love this jacket! I have never had such a light jacket that I could wear all day everyday in the cold weather. It keeps me comfy on cold day 15 F with wearing only a t-shirt inside - not toasty on those cold day but kind of comfortably cool. I think this type of jacket is a must have in your wardrobe because it is so light, amazingly warm, and very pretty. I can see myself wearing this all autumn and most days of winter where it doesn't fall down bellow 0.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and Light I purchased this jacket for the season change (winter-spring-fall); Measurements: 5'10 169lbs 16-36 in shirts medium build otherwise. So I needed a jacket that would fit the body of a medium but the arms of a monkey (36"). I opted for the medium, tall. Its fits well - there's a little looseness but nothing that bothers me. When fall-winter rolls around, I'll add a sweater and it'll be fine. It's warm. Im in NYC and the temps haven't warmed up like the rest of the nation at this stage (April 29, 2020) fluctuating around 45-50 degrees. This is the only jacket that I reach for. I'm a 'cold person' and I wear this jacket with a short sleeve t-shirt underneath and that's it. I don't feel chilly or the wind. Also, I've had the opportunity of wearing it out in the rain (april showers) and the surface actually repels most / all of the water. I walked 4 NYC blocks in the rain and I was completely dry. Most importantly, the jacket itself wasn't soaked or heavy. It wasn't pouring...but I should've had an umbrella. I've read stories about the feathers, tears and the overall fragile nature of the jacket *shrugging shoulders*. I can't speak to that yet but in my opinion, its serving its purpose for me: light, thin, warm, chest pocket, hood and not expensive. You've spent $175 on dinner - at least this lasts you more than one evening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for my purpose I was looking for a new down jacket for camping to be used at night. I am a hammock camper and a backpacker so I wanted ultralight, down and a hood. So this arrived today and I wore it outside to take my dog out and get the mail. I wore it over a hoodie and a t shirt. It’s WARM! Not too hot but definitely not cool either. It’s currently 3 degrees Fahrenheit (-16c) here. I plan to use this while sleeping. I also will be using a down under quilt and top quilt. This will be great for that as well as for around town. The stitching seems solid and the overall quality looks good. The zippers pull easy. With proper care this should last a lifetime. Just remember down requires special care when washing. Also, due to the ultralight materials I wouldn’t go roll around in the briars with this on. However, if you’re looking for ultralight, warm and compressible this is an excellent choice. The fit is perfect, arms stop just beyond my wrist joint which I like. Not tight at all, an xl would be baggy on me.
