Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Pocket Design I really like this jacket, the weight is perfect, the fabric is comfortable and I really like the color - green. My first choice - blue, was not available. The only issue I have are with the pockets. They are poorly designed. Any items in the pocket will slip out when you stand from a seated position. I have left behind my cell phone, eyeglass case and keys. The zippered interior pocket on the right side seems like an afterthought and is not very practical or roomy enough for the items I listed above. Some form of lining may provide enough friction to keep items secure. If you were to add a zipper to the exterior pockets, I would also add a flap, to conceal them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits Great The L size fit my 6', 203lb frame perfectly. I'm tall and slim but with a chubby tummy ("skinny fat"), but this jacket was perfect for me. It felt semi-fitted but it had plenty of room. It's just a basic nylon windbreaker that's very well made. This is the perfect autumn/spring jacket. The nylon material is thin, but I wouldn't wear it when it's warm out as there isn't really any ventilation in the jacket. I also wouldn't wear it in heavy rain, but it could definitely handle a light drizzle or mist. I could think of a few things I would want to change in it (ventilation zippers, extra inside pockets), but as is it's a great value that should last awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Functional and great looking I purchased the navy blue version online. The quality seems excellent and is very stylish. I went with a large and think that is the perfect size for my height and athletic build. If you are my height and thin (160 or below), go to a size medium would be my suggestion, otherwise its best to go to a store if one is near you to be sure. Don't expect this to keep you warm in cold weather, however. It is what it is...a rain/windbreaker to keep some of the elements off you in the Spring/Summer/early Fall. If you want something warm, look elsewhere or layer underneath.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Classic, but Very Good I used to own an early '90's issue of the "Mountain Classic" jacket and hoped to replicate that great model with Bean's new "Mountain Classic Full-Zip Jacket". The new jacket isn't as insulated and no longer has zipped pockets, but is still very comfortable with room for a fleece layer. If you plan to use this jacket in sub-50 degree weather, you'll want some type of layer; the jacket has light insulation but from my experience is only good at temps above 50 F. The quality is as good as its predecessor and it has become my go-to Autumn jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What's with the hood First of all the jacket fits well. It repels rain very well, but there is no length adjustment on the hood and that is problematic as it appears to have been designed for someone with a huge head or conehead. Seriously do not know what is with the hood. I wear a large hat and if I do not wear a baseball cap, I am continuously pulling the hood back. If I pull the drawstrings tight, it covers my face all the way down to my nose. LL BEAN needed to either use a drawstring adjustment like they do on other hooded jackets they sell or Velcro so the hood length can be adjusted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wet Weather Jacket I Had an older light jacket I kept in my SUV, and wanted something newer and lighter. After reading the other reviews on this jacket, plus reading the info that was provided about it, I went ahead and bought it. Was very impressed with how lightweight it is when it arrived. It is a lot lighter than my old one. The first time it rained and I put it on, I was impressed again on how light it felt while wearing it. Temp outside when it was raining was upper 70's, and I was not hot at all wearing this jacket. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great around the town coat I didn’t want to review this jacket until I wore it during some precipitation, that finally occurred so here goes. It held up well in regards to its ability to keep the rain out. I’m sure you would get wet if you wore this all day on the trails if you caught a rain day. That being said if you’re just running errands or commuting via public transportation this coat would certainly keep you dry. Solid coat, roomy hood, and perfectly positioned pockets. It also did a great job cutting the wind, and it’s super light. Rain coats tend to trap heat and surprisingly this coat breathes well. Definitely didn’t feel like I was wearing a trash bag sweating, and I tend to run hot so huge plus IMHO. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a light water resistant coat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Men’s Mountain Classic jacket I have purchased many clothing items from LL Bean over the last three decades. With every purchase the items fit perfectly. The Mountain Classic jacket (XL Tall) I recently purchased is a snug fit. I will still wear it but it is not what I have been accustomed to. Also, I would recommend future upgrades include a zippered chest pocket for a phone and add zippers to the two side pockets. Since the jacket is worn usually while doing outside activity such as hiking secured pockets is a plus.
