Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just ok I loved the classic look and recycled content of this jacket, but am disappointed in the fit and fabric. Fit is boxy, which I can appreciate through the chest and shoulders for layering, but even feels oddly large in the neck, body and waist. I dislike the weird half height of the collar, it’s too short to cover the back of your neck, it goes like halfway up and is loose so invites drafts. The fabric just stinks, sheds all over everything. My car, the shirts you wear underneath, bag packs, everything. If that much material is sloughing off in the first couple wears, there’re won’t be much left soon. Again, for $60 expected much more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality and warm Some of the major online retailers now selling fleece jackets appear to be competing solely on price. The fleece is thin. The fleece may be of inferior quality in that after a few washes the material looks terrible. And the zippers are cheap nylon zippers appropriate to a jersey dress, and they stick at times. This jacket is superb. Great quality. Washes well. Really good quality zippers. I love the zipped pockets (my iPhone doesn't fall out when I sit down). There is only one thing I would change -- that LLBean logo on the left upper chest. I am not keen on logos in general, and if there is one, I would prefer it to be subtle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fabric pills and is not a quality fleece I have ordered several fleece items over the years and have always been happy with my purchases. This jacket I purchased and received on 11/21/19, however, is not of the quality I was expecting from L.L.Bean. It is not a Polartec material, rather a fleece that simply does not wear well after a short time. After 2 weeks, the sleeves look pilled already as does where my arms rub against my torso as I walk. I was hoping to use this on the trail and but if I put a pack of any kind on it would just begin to look shabby based on my simply wearing it since I purchased it . I think I will be returning this and finding a good quality fleece elsewhere.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Why Change What Was A Great Jacket? Received this jacket as a gift and it went right back to LL Bean! Why make changes to a jacket that was great! Now, sizing is too small. Horrible!! I used to love this jacket! Not any more. LL Bean, please, please stop making changes to products that are already great. The sizing is much smaller and inferior to the older version. Thank heavens I still have my older versions that I can still wear! LL Bean, stop cutting corners and replacing great products with inferior ones! By the way, not only is the sizing smaller, the colors are horrible! I love my blue and raspberry jackets that fit! Please go back to the previous sizing of this jacket with colors like the past!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from almost perfect I was so disappointed when the comfort fleece was discontinued a couple of years ago. No one makes a warm fleece jacket like LLBean. I was thrilled when I saw the Mountain Fleece and immediately bought one. It is stylish, comfortable, WARM (!), and available in beautiful classic colors. The only downside is that after wearing it twice, I realized that it is already pilling like crazy. My plan was to purchase another in a different color, but I'm holding back. I know that you can do better, LLBean: I have four comfort fleece jackets hanging in my closet for 10+ years with nary a pill on any of them. Charge more if you must, but don't compromise on quality. We count on you!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable, average fleece I had a wonderful LL Bean fleece from many years ago that I managed to leave in an airport a year ago. I wanted to replace it, because I loved the black fleece I had. It went with everything, was solid black, so I could wear it teaching when classrooms were chilly -- not too sporty. This one is kind of dark gray, not a true black. The zippers are much more casual, and not appropriate for even casual professional wear. Please get rid of the LL Bean logo patch on the jacket -- also makes it less versatile. The other major flaw for me is that the zipper on my old jacket was a two way zipper -- it could be zipped from the bottom or the top. I hope LL Bean brings back the two way zippers!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Jacket won’t stop “pilling”, feels like felt I bought this jacket last season and the fit is great and it is warm, but I’ve washed it twice now to try to get it to stop pilling and shedding on my clothes with no luck at all. After the second wear, the sleeves had started getting little pills of fleece anywhere they had rubbed on the jacket, and my shirt was covered in navy fleece as well. Still can’t get either of these to stop. Also, the fleece feels cheap, like a thick piece of felt rather than fleece. I am a huge LL Bean fan and have loved everything I’ve bought until this jacket. Unless they’re making it out of something different, I would not purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pilling ruins this jacket I always have 6 or 8 Polartec-like jackets like this in my closet, many from LL Bean, and I typically wear one or another daily for most of the year, for many years. However, then I bought two of these (a second one as soon as I got the first one). But within three weeks, both started pilling, something all my other Polartec or Polartec-like jackets never did even after 5-10 years. So they look old, beat-up, and unattractive. I am thinking about sending them back. It's too bad, too, because they are very soft and otherwise pleasant to wear.
