Rated 2 out of 5 by Hobbs from Not impressed I was pretty disappointed in this coat. It had really good reviews, people said it kept them toasty warm in negative wind chills and temps. I had high hopes that it would live up to its reviews and price tag, but it let me down. I supervise elementary recess in Minnesota. The day I wore the coat the temp was in the upper teens and the wind chill was 3 degrees above zero. The wind blew right through the coat; in less than half an hour I was cold to the bone. I wouldn’t want to test the coat when it was well below zero. It says it’s rated for -50, but I don’t believe it. I would not recommend this coat to anyone who is outside in subzero temps.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bostoncommoner from Really Wanted to Like this Coat... For years I've had a coat that looks exatly like this one, and it's seen me through many a New England winter. It's time is just about up, though, and when I saw this in the store, I knew we were meant for each other...until I was walking my dog in the wind along the river and I went to put my hands in the (almost) non-existent pockets. My hands went in not even up to my wrist, instead of several inches above, as I'd been used to. NOT GOOD. In a coat supposed to keep you warm you need DEEP POCKETS not shallow. Very disappointed in LL Bean in this one. The coat went right back and the old one will continue to serve until I find the right replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Glissando from Best Winter Coat! I already owned one of these coats and ordered this second one as a backup. By far, this is the best winter coat I have ever had! There are so many features. You have two secure concealed pockets inside. The sleeves have storm cuffs to prevent cold air going up the sleeve. It virtually laughs at the cold wind. The pockets are roomy and also have zipper closures. The hood can be removed but it adds more warmth. No dry cleaning bills because it can be laundered and dried at home and comes out of the dryer looking just as good as the day it arrived at your home from Bean. Its length will keep all of you cozy and warm. And lastly, it looks good. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by ObligatoryNickname from Looks great, runs a tad large I've never been disappointed in an L.L. Bean product. I wore the 3/4 length rain jacket for 8 years when I lived in Washington State. I recently moved to New England and got the quilted riding jacket in a Large so I could layer a little. It looks great and is comfy and lightweight. With winter coming, I decided to order this long coat. I'm only taking off a star because the sizing is not consistent with other LLB outerwear I've gotten. Because of reviews mentioning the sizing I opted for a medium, and it fits the way the Large in the riding jacket does. I always kinda wanted a faux-fur-trimmed hood, and like this one a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by alex from Great winter coat Tried this coat out for the first time this morning (it's about 22 degrees). Kept me super warm with a thin long sleeve and thicker cardigan underneath. The extra length was great at helping keep warmth on my legs, which is helpful when you hate wearing long johns under your jeans. It hits about 2-3 inches above my ankle. The medium in nice and roomy so I can layer up on the super, super cold days. The only drawback to this coat (and so many others like it) is that the pockets are so small! I wish more companies would start making pockets roomier!! Regardless of pocket size this coat is great and I'm really happy I ordered it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Judii from Great length I bought a replacement for this same coat that is 20 years old. I got a large since my old coat is an extra large and too big with less weight. My new coat was tight in shoulders so had to reorder in extra large. I got new coat because old one was no lo ger water resistant. Even after trying to spray it. New coat was very warm but a little bit too big with replacement of size to extra large which I needed in shoulders but not body. Wore it in rain for 20 minutes and it got wet through the coat. Kept me warm as promised but got wet quicker than my old tired coat. Not sure I will keep it since I wanted a new coat with new water resistant fabric.

Rated 4 out of 5 by aimodb from Finally purchased an extra long coat! I have been eyeing this long coat for quite some time. I originally wanted it in the spruce color but I settled for the blue color since the green was on back order. The quality is good and it definitely keeps me warm. We have been experiencing unusually warm weather but I hope to use it a few more times before winter is officially over this year. One negative is that the coat zips and snaps just below the knee. I am sure this is for functionality as it would be difficult to climb stairs or walk if it enclosed all the way down but I think a snap to enclose it at the bottom for an option would be an improvement. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ShopperNYC2016 from Needs Improvement I love that this coat is nice and long to provide coverage to a tall lady like me, but this coat was not very warm, especially after I machine washed and dried it according to the instructions. It came out nice and clean but it never really fluffed back up completely. And the sleeves do not contain much filling at all and seemed to have even less after washing. Before washing, I would give this coat 3 out of 5 stars on the warmth scale. After washing, 2 out of 5 stars. I'm disappointed because I bought it because it was called ultra warm. I love llbean quality and products but this particular coat I will not buy again.
