Rated 4 out of 5 by KeepMovingCC from They left out some details! I have a 3 year old or more 850 jacket and needed another so ordered again. The sizing is larger and no soft fleece lining in the pockets any longer! No soft lining in the inside of collar. Why did you stop adding these wonderful details? It’s very disappointing to put my hands into cold pockets. I wish you wouldn’t cut corners. These extra details are what made the 850 jacket special. You were alway commited to quality and I’ve come to expect that when I made this purchase. That’s why I’m only giving 4 stars. Please add the fleece back, I would pay $20 more to have the coziness back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by cwbhcne from Expensive, but the material is easy to puncture. This jacket is very expensive, but mine haven't lasted. They'd be okay if you only used them to go to work and back, but don't try working in the yard with them on. They puncture at the first rose thorn, piece of fence wire, cat's claw, or any other sharp object. On the other hand they are warm for their weight, mostly wind and water resistant. They just aren't useful for a person like me, and like I said they are extremely expensive for a jacket that you have to treat with kid gloves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by zanthine from Favorite jacket! I’d been looking at this jacket for ages when I finally broke down and ordered it. I’m so glad I did! As a Pacific Northwest transplant to the upper Midwest I was well stocked for rain, but less for bone chilling cold. I needed something g between my giant Michelin man long down coat and my gortex shell. This fits the bill beautifully and is super cute besides! I’m really pleased and suspect it will get a lot of wear this fall/ winter The jacket fits as expected. I have room for a light layer underneath. And the sleeves are long enough! So tired of jackets with sleeves that are too short. Thank you, LL Bean! My one complaint/ suggestion is that this jacket needs a two way zipper. With a two way zipper it would be perfect!

Rated 3 out of 5 by shorty from Last version of this jacket was better... I really wanted to love this jacket. I had the older version of it and it unfortunately got stolen. The older style fit my petite frame better and it hugged to my curves better. This jacket is way poofier than the older style, despite the fact that they both had 850-fill. I really wanted to love it because the down tek material L. L. Bean uses is better compared to other companies down jackets and works well in the rain. I also love that L. L. Bean caters to a petite frame. This is very rare to come across. Wish the jacket fit me better but I have to love the way I feel in a down jacket, it just didn't happen this time. One last thing is I don't care much for the logo being up high on the right side. I know other competitors go that route, but I really appreciated it being on the lower pocket on the older model. L. L. Bean has amazing quality but this jacket just didn't work out for me sadly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RAHatch from Best winter jacket I have these 850 jackets in all weights; this is the 4th, replacing my first one which was now too large after I lost weight. They are wonderful, almost weightless, and very warm. Their only negative is that the thin outer fabric can be damaged by something sharp. Not recommended for working outside with tools or such things!

Rated 5 out of 5 by perisphere from Great for travel The light weight and stuffability of this jacket makes it ideal for winter traveling. It's comfortable and flexible for driving, and it fits easily into any carry-on bag for flying. The self-contained pouch is neat, but mostly I just cram the jacket into my backpack after I get to the airport. The jacket fits well. I ordered a size up to make sure I could zip it up over a sweater- turns out I can close the jacket over my thickest cable-knit sweaters with no problem. The pockets are capacious. The front zipper works very smoothly- no snags. The outer material is nicely water resistant and keeps me dry in heavy rain. The color (light blue) was as shown in the photo and it is lovely. My one concern is warmth- the jacket is not nearly as warm I expected and I would be astonished if the temperature rating is truly as advertised. It's fine with layers, but not warm enough for me over just a light top.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tmorgan514 from Almost Perfect :( (Curvy build, somewhat athletic) I have been looking for the perfect coat that can pack itself into a small pouch AND keep me warm. After much research I found this jacket and it seemed to have everything I needed on paper. I almost went up to an M, however, I ended up with a small after I was able to fit two sweatshirts and a vest under the S. I tested it out this weekend hiking some of the Presidential mountains. First off- I was SO WARM. Summit both days chilly (probably 20 with wind) and I was so comfortable. If you get cold easily, this is will keep you so super toasty! And now, for the bad news- The shell is not durable and I already ripped my jacket. I was enjoying a peaceful (and warm in my jacket) lunch at the top and stood up to hear a small rip and feather sticking out. :( :( So I guess to sum it up, this is super warm for daily wear but I guess not really made for anything active. So so so disappointed because of the price.
