Why We Love It
This exclusive scotch plaid flannel shirt is woven just for us by true artisans in Portugal. These expert craftspeople meticulously brush our fabric eight times on each side to create a long-lasting material with that distinctive smooth and cozy feel. But that doesn’t automatically make it plush enough. It still needs to pass the “touch test.” Only a master weaver can declare it soft enough.
Fabric & Care
- Made of high-quality Portuguese cotton flannel, an L.L.Bean exclusive.
- Expertly brushed for exceptional softness and warmth.
- Body lined in 100% polyester sherpa fleece.
- Sleeves lined in a soft jersey blend of 60% cotton and 40% polyester for easy on/off.
- Machine wash and dry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mstew from Great shirt but stitching coming apart This is a very comfortable and warm shirt (though I was disappointed to find that the sherpa lining is only on the torso and isn't in the sleeves, where it would actually be against my skin). However, I'm very disappointed by the poor quality of the sewing. When I first got it, I found one pocket hadn't been sewn correctly, so there was a small hole. I liked the shirt enough to deal with it. But after having it for about two months, I'm seeing stitching coming apart in other places. It's not like I'm putting a lot of stress on the shirt -- I only wear it around the house, and it fits very loosely. For the price it costs, there's no excuse for seams to be unraveling after two months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Barb from Super warm I was looking for an around-the-house flannel to replace an LL Bean flannel (size small, fleece-lined) from ~6 years ago. My main concerns were warmth, ability to layer, and ability to button the shirt. I've got a pretty large bust so needed to size up or run the risk of being unable to button it... which I was unable to do comfortably with my older size small. This fits perfectly in terms of arm length and chest but is HUGE in the tummy area and is especially wide. Basically it's fine for wearing around the house or to take the dog outside but this isn't flattering at all worn out and about for my body shape/size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CailinBeag from Cosy Plaid Shirt The Sherpa-lined shirt is really comfortable - I purchased the Scotch Plaid - usually known as Black Watch Tartan? The colors are a mixture of green and blue. Because I live in California I haven't worn it too much yet, but I will take it to Europe with me as I will definitely need it there. It's more a jacket than a shirt actually. I bought the large size and the fit is perfect - not too tight and not too loose either. I would purchase it again if they had more colors. I haven't had it long enough to know how it will wash, but I will uses cold water and line dry it to make sure it stays perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SpringCreekGardener from Warm, soft, cozy shirt This shirt easily layers over another top to keep the chill away. I have worn it as a jacket during the fall weather running errands and as a layer around the house. It has big rectangular pockets along the lower front hem that easily accommodates my iPhone 11 and more! The pretty red flannel is soft and the lining is warm. I’ve washed it twice in cold water and partially dried it on low in the dryer, then hung to finish drying overnight. The sleeve and petite hip length have not changed noticeably. It fits my frame well. It’s great to have a nice winter layer look and feel Minnesota hygge!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gweeber from Cozy and practical! This shirt is great. The lining in the chest area is very soft and keeps me nice and warm. I love that it has so many pockets that can actually fit things! I've been using it both as a jacket and to warm up around the house. It's oversized on me, which is what I prefer, especially for warm things. The only negative I can think of is only a negative relative to the men's version of the same shirt, which I bought for my spouse: this shirt has button closures along the front, the men's version has snaps. To be fair, though, the lining on mine is softer than the men's version.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Woody from Almost good I got this shirt to wear in winter when I’m outside working in the yard or building something. The big disappointment is there isn’t any of the think lining in the sleeves. It feels like I’m wearing a vest with lining. The sleeves are a thin flannel that don’t help against the cold much at all. I would not recommend this product if you want a fully lined warm shirt. The product description needs to be corrected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicky from Definitely more like a jacket I honestly love plaid and sherpa! This was a no brainer purchase. I am petite with an athletic build. I felt like the Sherpa flannel was a little roomy even though it was an XS Petite (smallest size you could possibly buy). In my opinion, it runs on the larger side... but I really love it. It’s comfortable. You can definitely fit something warm underneath like a thick turtleneck or even wear a few layers. You just have to dress it up with a nice pair of jeans and boots. I purchased the “Black Watch” color. I plan on purchasing the red flannel when it is back in stock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AliOops from Wasn't up to LLB's standards! Loved the colors and feel of the fabrics. However....would have liked the sherpa lining NOT to have been white, because it looked odd when sleeves were rolled up. Also, the fabric puckered somewhat after laundering, unlike the fleece-lined, hooded shirt I'd purchased previously. Lastly, although most of my tops/shirts are an XL, this XL was smaller after laundering in cold water and partially dried on low heat and hung to dry to complete drying pocket and cuff areas.
