Rated 5 out of 5 by WAtraveler from Trail Model Down Vest Solid Color I purchased the solid color trail model down vest in Mountain Red - a beautiful rich color (great color!) with no orange tones. The quality is excellent, with practical zip pockets and snaps plus zipper in the front. The overall look is flattering. As a comparison to Bean's classic goose down vest, a winter wardrobe staple, the fit is somewhat larger and longer, and armholes larger. If intended use (Mountain Trail vest) is over a shirt or tee, sizing down may be a good option. I plan to wear my vest over bulky outdoor clothing, so my regular size will work fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rejoley from Great Vest I bought this vest to wear for our fall walks. There are times that it is almost too warm, and I am a person that would rather be too warm rather than even slightly cold. If you are looking for a fitted vest, this isn't the one, but if you want to stay warm, I recommend it. At 5"11", I tend to buy men's tall outwear for the extra length. The length of this vest is good. Over the past few years, I believe that some of the products which I have purchased from LLBean have not been the highest quality. It is my opinion that this vest meets the high quality standard that I expect from LLBean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PetNut from Great Tailoring, Mid-Weight Vest I love this vest in navy. I bought a size small and the longer length is perfect for my 5'9" 135-lb. frame. The arm holes are generous and leave plenty of room for a shirt, sweater, or sweatshirt. This is a very flattering mid-weight vest although not quite as warm as some previous down products that are puffier and bulkier. There are plenty of pockets and I am delighted that it has snaps (as opposed to the obnoxious velcro). I live in the damp and chilly NW so I wear the vest indoors and out. I would definitely buy this product in more colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kitty99 from Great Fit I am very pleased with the quality and fit of the vest. I am 5'11" and weigh in at 146 lbs. I ordered a Medium and the fit is very good. The armholes are generous in size, easily allowing for a heavy shirt or sweater underneath. The inside pocket is sewn well and doesn't hang up. I appreciate the zipper pulls too. I like the warmth the vest has to offer. I haven't worn it under a jacket yet, but I'm pretty sure it will fit just fine. Living at 5,000 ft. in a desert state, I have learned that layering is critical to comfort and I expect to get a lot of use from this vest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ArtGirl999 from Keeps my Back WARM! I love this vest and it keeps my back, including the lower back warm. Often in the noon day here in New Mexico it is fine to wear this over a sweater when running errands. On a very cold day I can wear it under my matching color down jacket and I am super toasty. This vest is attractive, what my mother used to call "smart looking" I am happy to have it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nepenthes from Too big I agree with a previous reviewer that said the chest area and arm holes are too big! I ordered this vest in a misses XS and it fits like a size L. My husband wears a size medium in men's and it fits him perfectly. Don't order this vest if you have an athletic build (I'm 5'5 130lbs). They must have pinned the heck out of it to fit it on the model. The quality is really nice and looks nice out of the package. I just wish the XS would actually fit a small build.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tom5Z from Down Vest Bought this on sale because not picky about colors. Great, fantastic. Fits perfectly. I bought this over another company because being female fitting my hips is always a concern, I'm curvy. This has the zipper and snaps. Perfect. As it turns out it fits perfectly with zipper. Yeah! Not too bulky. Really, really pleased with this purchase. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by louisek from Outstanding Outstanding in today's market. Period. Beautifully made and finished inside and out. Attention to aesthetic as well as functional details. Folks, it's almost impossible to find a down vest with snaps and zipper these days. Let alone with good, zippered pockets and a drawstring bottom. The fabric is not shiny (yay!). All the hardware is great quality and the fabric feels it will stand up to the snaps (flimsy fabric is why many makers no longer put snaps on garments). Shapely cut for a bulky outdoor down vest. Plenty of down across the upper back and in the collar. It's very warm. I'm wondering if I would actually wear a vest this warm without going to a coat since I don't ski or work outside. I suggest sizing so you can fit some layers underneath because you may not want a vest this warm in tee shirt weather. Finally I will have to say I don't think I'm going to like the DownTec in general. It feels heavier and it doesn't breath like goose down. Sadly, I think the whole industry is heading to DownTec. LLBean has delivered a product that stands up to it's reputation with this vest. Amazing price point for this, by the way, considering everything. For reference: 5'6"/135/Small is roomy enough for a sweater. Armholes are big enough to fit layers. The blue is not bright, very neutral, well saturated, deep but not inky. Will go with anything and be great with bright accessories.
