Rated 5 out of 5 by spikesdad from Spike's Great New BED I have a 2year old 160 lb Great Dane (and growing) that I needed a bed for. Having had the LL Bean dog beds before (round blue denim) and knowing how great they are I purchased the X-large Therapeutic Bed. When Spike lays on the bed there are small indentions where the larger parts of his body rest. When he gets up the indentions disappear. When he lays stretched out on HIS bed with his four legs perpendicular to his body (Dane's usually do this on your sofa) his body is totally on the bed (Spike is 35" tall at the shoulders). Spike loves his new bed and so do I. It is totally his domain (rather than my bed or sofa). Excellent choice. Great buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by seimh00 from Foam insert is bad I purchased this dog bed using my ll bean coupons. I received this shortly thereafter, and when I opened the insert it was folded in half and appeared almost burnt or heat melted. I waited several days hoping the insert would relax and nope. I called and had another insert sent and discovered the same problem I called again and received another insert and yes it was bad once again.I finally called and just sent them all back. What a disappointment and waste of coupons. I guess they do nothing for me . I only hope you figure out the problem with shipping these in this manner as I see others are having the same issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TulipsandCrocus from Dog doesn't sink to floor, rests comfortably I've bought 3 of these beds in 2 sizes large and medium - over the years. The the most recent has been in the last few weeks. None of the beds have worn out, although one I gave to an animal shelter when it's occupant was no longer with us. These beds wear like iron. I've had the large and two mediums. I wash the covers about once a month. Okay it's a bit of effort to stuff the memory foam back into the cover but well worth it. Unlike other dog beds the dog doesn't sink to the floor. They are well supported and rest comfortably. The medium is big enough for my Lab. I measured her from the shoulder to the floor and nose to tail. Perfect fit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ridiculitous from Therapeutic Dog Bed XL The memory foam is thick egg shell that would normally be fine, but the canvas cover is the issue. The cover should be about 1/4 inch larger all the way around. It is soooooooo frustrating trying to put the cover on the bed after washing it. The bed, once the cover is on the memory foam, is actually WONDERFUL, but the cover should be larger. I keep a very clean house and wash the dog's bed cover every couple of weeks. This is something I now seriously dread more than anything in my entire life -- sick statement, but true. It is such a battle and could be fixed easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ulila from Quality Dog Bed, My Second Purchase I'm not sure about my senior Berner, but I feel better about this dog bed for her golden years, because it is supportive and comfortable for her hips and joints. The cover is sturdy and was easy to put on, at least the first time. I'm not sure if washing will change that. I will update the review if that happens. I've been happy with both the dog beds I purchased at LL Bean. The first bed one was a round premium, and still in good shape after many gentle washes in the automatic washer, so easy to keep clean. I know I cannot throw this memory foam bed in the washer, so I have a waterproof sheet over it, to keep it dry. Thanks for two great products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ZKMAL from The Best Dog Bed We had been replacing our $25 dog bed 3 or 4 times a year. We finally decided to spend the money and try out an LL Bean bed because of LL Beans reputation for having quality merchandise. We have had this bed for a year and couldn't possibly be happier with it. We have a 100 lb. Mastiff that sleeps 23 hours a day, so this bed has really gotten a work out. The memory foam insert looks and feels exactly as it did a year ago when it was new. The denim cover has been washed and dried numerous times and still comes out looking brand new. This bed is the best investment I have ever made for my dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ADKShopping from Great Dog Bed - open carefully Our old girl needed a soft solution for her stiff and sore joints. She just loves her new bed. I read other reviews concerning the foam insert. You need to be patient, unwrap carefully and wait a few hours. It reshapes with no problem. If you are not careful opening and unwrapping, you will damage it, as it needs to refill with air. (I have worked with foam seating in human healthcare and the same is true for those products when forcefully compressed for shipping)

Rated 5 out of 5 by katiejo113 from Perfect for Senior Dog My sweet beagle/collie mix had arthritis in his hips and back, and he started getting very uncomfortable when he was 12 years old. I bought this bed for him, and he began preferring it over lounging on the couch or my bed, which had been his previous favorite places for 12 years. When he got very sick from cancer, this bed was the only place he would sleep. He could still stand up from it quite easily, even at his worst. This bed was the best thing I ever bought him. Worth every single penny. He loved it. If your older dog could use a supportive place to rest, consider purchasing this bed.
