Rated 3 out of 5 by Mynicknamesaretaken from Why change? I have bought many of these shirts over the years, and like many others here, I wonder why change a great thing? For me, the narrower shoulders means the shirt fits a little tighter across my chest. The sleeves (tall sizes) used to come almost to my elbows, which I liked. I loved the loose, comfortable fit of the past. I suspect the new style is meant to satisfy a younger, "hipper" demographic. LLBean needs to realize that this is not their core customer. The new cut is not a deal-breaker to me, because I still like the fabric and the tall sizes beat anything else I can find. But I would sure be happier if they go back to the old way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by OutdoorEnthusiast111 from Not Traditional Fit... The new re-design of the fit of these shirts is terrible. They are tight in the shoulder and upper arm areas, and not relaxing to wear at all. If you like feeling constricted in your movements with little or NO freedom to relax, play and enjoy working in your yard, then this shirt is for you. The fit is now consistent with a young person's body, so if you are an average size for middle age or older, think about this before you buy this newly designed shirt. LL Bean: Why change a that we could count on year after year? Some things are better left alone, and this is one of them....please bring the classic traditional fit back!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by WorkingGuy18 from New fit is not worthy of "Premium" name For years I have worn these polos. I have Medium size polos from many prior years that fit great. Over the past 2 years they have been tightening up in the trunk and the fabric gets thinner with each passing year, but this year the whole design is wrong. I ordered a Large noting that they had trimmed up the fit and could barely lift my arms. The large was tighter on my chest than the Medium from last year. When I put my arms down it looks like I have shoulder pads in. I'm 5'11" and 225lbs and have a 46 chest. To me the new fit and fabric is exceedingly skimpy. Please LLBean make a true "Classic" fit with a quality fabric and just charge more if needed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Driver36 from New Fit A Huge Disappointment The trimmer fit on the Double L polo was a big mistake by LL Bean. I am 5-11, 160 pounds and will never be mistaken for someone who spends a lot of time in the weight room and a medium size in this version of the Double L is ridiculously tight in the shoulders to the point the shirt bunches up and does not fit right at all. Whoever recommended this change needs to be reassigned. I hesitated when I read similar reviews before ordering one in indigo blue. They were right. Nice color, nice fabric but a terrible fit. It will be returned and I will not order another LL Bean polo until the previous sizing is restored. (Currently have 11 of the LL Bean old-style polos in my closet.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by AlbertOfTheNorth from Love the shirt, too bad about some quality issues Have loved these polos since first getting them. Unfortunately the "banded" style tends to come about where the cuff meets the sleeve. I have these in many different colors but slowly having to replace them all with the "hemmed" style because the cuffs just do not stand up. Of course, it takes time for this to happen but since I have a closet full of polos, I figure they should last for a few years. I also think it is a quality issue just with the cuffs as the rest of the shirt still looks great when the cuffs start to separate. Wish they could up the quality of these as I would go back to them in a heartbeat if they did.

Rated 2 out of 5 by InthevalleyRI from Bring Back the Old Double LL Premium Polos My husband loved these shirts, however, over the past year or so, we've both noticed a decrease in quality in the shirt. The shoulders and arms are too fitted despite this shirt being a traditional fit. All of the shirts that he has purchased over the past year, require us to sew some where in the arm area due to holes forming around the arm banding. The odd thing is he still has polo shirts from 5 years ago by L.L. Bean that do not require the same repairs. Unfortunately, he is looking at other stores for replacement polos. L.L. Bean, please go back to your old quality with these polos.

Rated 3 out of 5 by sfnativeguy from New fit is very different If you've bought these polos in the past and are wondering what the "new fit" hubbub is all about, it comes down to this: 2". Bean narrowed the shoulders by that much (on a size medium) so that now they measure about 17". That won't work for some people. In addition to narrowing the width of the shirt, it hikes up the sleeves, which also happen to be set in at a different angle. I can understand the rationale for giving the cut a more tailored look, but they went a bit too far, even for someone like me who has a slim build. It's not unwearable, but the shoulders in particular are a bit tight and the seam rides too high. My advice: try a sample before you go ordering every color of the rainbow.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TWCoast from No longer my "Go-To" polo shirt What happened to my favorite polo shirt? Prior to ordering this shirt, I read through a lot of reviews, and I mean A LOT of them. I wasn't sure what to think so I gave the new polo a try and found that my conclusions were consistent with many of the other reviewers; it's nothing like the old polo design. This shirt has shorter, more snug-fitting sleeves. It is narrower in the shoulders and the sleeves intersect the shirt-body at a much sharper angle. The chest is narrower with a much trimmer fit overall. If I wanted the youthful cut of the LL Bean Signature line, I would have bought it. After years and years of LL Bean polos in my closet, I sadly find that I will have to find another brand of "Go-To" polo.
