Rated 1 out of 5 by Hopeful from Disappointing I’ve purchased about 6 pair of these trousers previously. I like the cut, the fit is ample, though the leg has insufficient taper. The comfort waist is essential, and the quality of cutting and sewing acceptable. Previous examples of this trouser were made from a more refined, wrinkle resistant cotton twill with a smooth hand and good drape. But they changed the cloth! They’re using poorer cloth. This cloth is a bit heavier, but also coarse and stiff. Too warm in hot weather and breathes poorly. And the added stiffness rather than improving wrinkle resistance only assures that every bend or crease you put in them stays there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by shortguy from Why $30 more? These "dress Chinos" are no different than the $44 chinos with the hidden comfort waistband. I ordered them (and paid $74) because I thought they would be dressier. I wanted to be able to wear them to nicer events with a sport coat. But I can find no difference between them and the other $44 pants I have purchased from LL Bean. There is nothing wrong with the fit, and I love LL Bean products, but buyer beware. Don't pay the extra for dress chinos. They're the same as regular chinos.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Waukesha from Concerns at first - but turned out perfectly I bought these slacks and was a bit concerned when I first tried them on. I ALMOST returned them, but then decided to take them on a business trip to China. They held up very nicely after 20+ hours in a suitcase and I was very happy with the look and feel. They initially appeared to be a bit long, but they actually worked out just fine. Would I buy them again? ---- probably. Great value and well made. Love the LL Bean attention to durability and sustainability. The costs are a bit more than I was previously used to, but the quality of the garments is SO much better than deparetment store purchases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mouse1999 from Heather Gray Various Shading Hides Wear and Lint! This heather gray is shaded such it will hide wear and lint. When you need a dark pair of pants in cotton these are the ones to get. Dark colors in cotton pants like navy and black tend to show wear and lint more than khaki pants, but the shading in the heather gray should hide the wear and lint. This style of LL Bean pant, Dress Hidden Comfort Waist is my husband's and my favorite. He is comfortable and looks great in them. These dress chinos have a button and clip at the top of the fly so no buttons ever falling off from our experience. Also flap covered button pockets in the back and deep pockets in the front. Pleated in the front and comfort waist for that fluctuating waistline. They hem with or without a cuff to your specifications. Wash and wear! What is there not to like?

Rated 3 out of 5 by JC001 from They just don't last very long I really like these Chinos. I get them with the pleated waist and the hidden comfort waist band. The down side is that they don't last very long. The belt loops get all worn out and they begin to look terrible. They also wear out and fray at my pant leg bottoms and they are not too long. My last 2 pairs only lasted 3 months, and I only wear each of them twice a week. So basically I have worn each pair only 24 times and both pairs look worn out already. I only work in an office environment and sit at a computer all day. It's not like I am digging trenches in them. All of these chinos that I have ordered in the past wear out at this same rate. So just beware. I did try the less expensive chinos a couple years ago, but 2 pairs of them only lasted a month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TrooperBill from Very Pleased With my build it is very difficult to find pants that have a roomy comfortable fit, especially in the seat and thighs. I have now found them in the natural fit hidden comfort pleated dress chinos. I also find they are a good fabric weight for year round wear, look good for wearing to work in the office, fit nicely at the waist (not down on the hips) and come out of the dryer with very minimal touch up ironing (only because I want that crisp pressed look). I had tried many other brands and just about had given up hope of finding chinos that meet all the criteria that I wanted, then I found these. I will be buying more in the future so long as LL Bean continues to make these and not change the way they are made!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mouse1999 from Looking great with a fluctuating waist line! My husband wears these as casual work and everyday pants, but not for messy days or exercising. Why do I keep buying these pants? 1) The reinforced closure on top: is easy to use and has two points of attachment, which is much better than one button that can fall off with use. (I have no time to sew on buttons!) 2) Low maintenance: wash, dry and hang up right out of the dryer. You could iron them if you want them to look perfect. (I have no time to iron!) 3) Accommodates a fluctuating waist line (fabulous!) 4) It makes him look great! They start showing wear after a year or two of use, so then I replace them. Yes, these are more expensive than the one button pants, but they are easier and better looking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mark from Flimsy Material Until recently I have been a big fan of Bean's adjustable waist cotton chinos, having purchased several pairs. Unfortunately, a hole wore straight through the back pocket where I keep my wallet and two other pairs are on the way in the exact same spot. In my 50 plus years of wearing chinos I have never had this experience. It supports other reviews that the material is of poor quality and wears very easily. It speaks badly of LL Bean whose name formerly stood for quality and durability, but no longer.
