Rated 5 out of 5 by NicNacPaddyWhak from Wash First! Do Not! I repeat, DO Not wear this shirt without washing FIRST. Contrary to my wife's suggestions, I never bother washing new clothes. I regretted it this time. About three hours into wearing this shirt I developed a bright red and very itchy rash on my torso, front and back. It looked like a very bad sunburn. That was on a Tuesday and today is Thursday and the color of the rash is gone, but not the itching. Hopefully it will go away soon. I've learned my lesson. Perhaps LL Bean can check with their manufacturer in Malaysia. I like the shirt, but should have washed it first. Thankfully, my wife never said "I told you so".

Rated 5 out of 5 by zephyr from great at home and for travel I confess, we are stockpiling a couple of these, because they've been so great at home and on trips. The 100% cotton is super-comfortable, and doesn't get stinky quickly like part-polyester shirts can. Surprisingly these shirts wrinkle very little while traveling, even when we might wash them in the hotel sink, roll in a towel to partly dry, then shake them out & hang on a hanger to finish drying. At home we hang dry and then fluff in the dryer. The fabric has worn really well. The shirt comes with extra buttons (nice, we needed one recently). The blue fades a bit after a long time being worn in the sun, but that's OK.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrispyB from One is not enough. The L.L. Bean Tropics Shirt has been a staple of my summer wardrobe for a number of years. I like a shirt with a collar, and not being a polo-style kind of guy, the camp shirt style has always been my go-to. The Tropics Shirts has everything I look for in a summer shirt: 100% cotton (I'm not afraid of a little ironing. ), light weight, and a front pocket. I'm also adverse to riotous floral patterns (send me no orchids). The Tropics Shirt comes through with subtle, yet unique, almost retro designs in understated colors that always look classy. Buy one. You will come back for another. But get them early, they seem to sell out quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DanS from Great Shirt in Hot Weather Here in the SW these are wonderful shirts to wear down here in the summer. The straight hem means you can either wear it tucked in, or out, casual style. LL Bean brings them back every year in variations of patterns and colors. If you are wondering about them, just look at the fact that many of the sizes get sold out QUICKLY, and become hard to find in the heat of the summer. This is a very comfortable shirt in the HOT weather. They can tend to wrinkle especially along the button placket to try to remove them from the dryer promptly and hang immediately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Buckaroo9 from Not a very good shirt Lots of LL Bean purchases. This is the only disappointment I recall. Bought the Navy Myan shirt and it was back ordered much longer than indicated. It finally arrived. Printed fabric seems cheap/flimsy. The pattern is not very defined and not attractive. I washed the shirt Before I wore it. I always remove my shirts from the drier while damp and hang them up. Many quality products don't require ironing when I do this. This, shirt just kind of clumped up and looked terrible. I then ironed the shirt with a medium hot iron. The iron seemed to drag, across, the fabric. Ironing helped the appearance slightly. If you want a tropical look shirt, you can do much better by going to JC Penny or Target-for less money. I will not order anymore of these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by TheDream from Size has changed I have been wearing these Tropics Shirts for many years and Bean has changed the sizing. The fabric and quality seem to be the same good stuff of prior years but the chest size is now smaller. I have more of a swimmers build and the new cut no longer fits me. The cut had always been full and airy with the Tropics Shirt being the only brand I needed to buy one size smaller than my regular XXL. I will miss this old standard in my closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DanS from Great Shirt in Hot Weather Here in the SouthWest these are wonderful shirts to wear in the heat of the summer. The straight hem means you can either wear it either tucked in or not, casual style. I prefer the latter. LL Bean brings them back every year in variations of patterns and colors. If you are wondering about them, many of the sizes and patterns get sold out QUICKLY, and become hard to find in the heat of the summer. This is a very comfortable shirt in the HOT weather. They can tend to wrinkle especially along the button placket so try to remove them from the dryer promptly and hang immediately. Note that occasionally a touch up with an iron may be needed but this is not a show-stopper for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by StuckinLodi from cool, comfortable, and My husband loves these shirts. I order them for him whenever they become available. He likes the fact that he can wear them untucked because of the straight hem rather than the shirt tail hem. I love the different fabric choices and the fact that they come in a Tall man size. They are casual with the open neck, but still look dressy enough to wear to church. My only complaints are that they need a light iron after coming out of the dryer, and that they go out of stock too quickly. I ordered 3 and then decided I should get him 2 more a week later. One was on back order already and the other was no longer available. You know these are popular shirts so why not have more stock on hand? More pattern choices would be nice as well.
