    Why We Love Them
Whoever says “they don’t build things like they used to,” doesn't own these boots. Today, our signature boots are still sewn right here in Maine – one pair at a time – by expert craftspeople whose technical skills and passion for their work is evident in every pair of boots they make. Warm, dry feet haven’t gone out of style in a hundred years, so we haven’t needed to change L.L.’s innovative 1912 design.
    Construction
    • Waterproof protection of rubber-bottom boots with the supple comfort of full-grain leather.
    • A uniquely shaped foot form offers comfort and stability, and a steel shank adds support.
    Additional Features
    • Still crafted here in Maine from the highest quality materials.
    • These boots – the “original antidote to wet feet” – were designed by L.L. Bean himself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One more trip to Quetico I always wish for reviews from buyers that have tested products hard. I have worn these boots in the worst mud, slop, snow, rocks, brush and conditions I wished I hadn't got myself into from Ontario to the AR border. I was about to order my second pair of Bean Boots and decided my 20 year old pair could make one more trip to Quetico. Bean replaced the bottoms on them 10 years ago and I think they'll make it. I love simple, good quality and luckily Bean offers that and the only outfit that offers a narrow width for my skinny foot. I am getting a new pair this fall mainly to make sure the cobblers at Bean stay busy and assume the next pair will last me till I get to the nursing home. You won't regret buying this boot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT AT ALL WATERPROOF These boots fit well, are comfortable to walk in, but in reality are not effective for hunting. They leak at the seams. I bought them based on the write up that they are water proof given all the "Maine Guide" advertising. I guess the water in Northern Saskatchewan must be different than Maine, because my feet were NOT dry this past week while moose hunting. I guess they are a nice fashion boot. Don't buy these if you want something that is really functional. They are not even a little bit warm either. If you want a functional boot I guess you need to pay the extra for gortex and thinsulate, or just pay less and buy a pair of Muck Boots. That is what I will be doing now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1980 Bean Boots Received my boots as a Christmas present from my parents when I was in college back in 1979....still using them today, although they are ready for their third set of new soles. Of special note, I started wearing orthotics three years ago...they fit just fine in my boots. I have used these boots in all sorts of situations and in all seasons....you can do no better than to purchase a pair of these. Purchased a pair for my wife over twenty years ago...they are still going strong. My oldest son is just breaking in his pair received at Christmas, 2013. With proper care and conditioning of the leather, this may be the last pair of boots that you buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thinking about adding Gore-Tex Liners? There is a reason there are so many reviews for this boot! I have had my old pair of Bean Boots (8") for over a decade and they are still going strong. The only reason i bought another pair is to have a higher pair for the snow (10"). I hoped to match them with the Gore-Tex liners that go with the 10'' Main Hunting Boots (MHB), if you are thinking about trying those with the regular Bean Boots (BB), all i can tell you is that it didn't work for me. They fit but there is a velcro component that must be there to match with the MHB, not the BB. Most importantly it was just too tight. I think i will be better off with just the boots and a good pair of socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Uninsulated, and fine in the snow with thick socks I love these boots! I'm glad I ordered down a size -- even with thickish socks, orthotics and an extra insole liner over the rigid orthotic, they are snug but not too tight. Usually I wear an 8 1/2 in men's, sometimes a 9, and these are an 8. I love the brown/brown color combo. I have wide feet, ordered W (wide) width, and they are perfect. No spilling over the side and rolling these ankles! And the boots have good ankle support, anyway. Because they are not insulated, they can be worn pretty much year-round, in melted mud and muck, too. (I only wish the laces were longer.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase. Great quality. My son picked these out from the store, when he was home on Thanksgiving break from college. (I just provide the money..) He debated a lot between this 10" boot versus the similar 8" boot but ultimately picked the 10"--I think because he liked the dark brown color better and he felt like the 10" was not too tall. He says they are great, durable, comfortable, and he likes the look too. They keep his feet dry when walking across campus in the rain/snow. He did not choose the sheerling lined version because he intends to use the boots all year. These are plenty warm enough with heavy socks, for our Virginia winters. He says he is very pleased with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, durable and dependable! Even though my 30+ year old Bean Boots likely could have been repaired (a seam had let go and the bottoms were worn), I thought it was time to buy new Bean Boots when visiting the Freeport store recently. I wore my original boots pretty much year round in the snow, mud and rain for over 15 years while living in Maine and New Hampshire, and then quite frequently while living the past 17 years in Maryland, South Carolina and North Carolina. I definitely received my money's worth with my original boots! I fully expect my new Bean Boots will last the same or even longer time. I will not even consider buying any other other boot for outside use--they are so comfortable, practical and rugged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Perfect, Great Fit! First off I am a female with narrow feet, but I wanted 10 inch boots instead of 8 inch because my legs are longer, so I had to order men's boots. I normally have womens size 11, but mens that becomes a 9.5-10. I had heard they run extra big, so I ordered a size 8.5 narrow and they fit PERFECT. They are very much waterproof, snowproof, mudproof, and practically lifeproof! (; I can't wait to really break these bad boys in this winter in the mountains at college. They are really comfortable and extremely practical. All my friends are jealous of them, and rightfully so!
