Rated 4 out of 5 by Deafman from Nice Enough for Above Freezing I use these mittens to protect my hands while I ride a mobility scooter to work. I am disabled, and regular gloves leave my fingers frozen after just 10 minutes (or less). These allow you to keep your fingers together, but the inside liner is too loose and makes it difficult to grasp things that are small. Also, they are not as warm as I hoped they would be. They are ok for above freezing or for playing in the snow, but not if your hands will be still for a long time outside, like when you are riding a bike or holding a handlebar on a scooter. On very cold days, I must use a hand warmer with them or my fingers freeze. I like the rubber palm grip and the feel, but the wrist is too tight and forces your coat sleeve back, exposing your skin. It would be better if the mittens had a flared cuff so that they fit better over a coat sleeve. Still, they are not too bad for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by vtresident from Size issue Ordered a large based on measurements and previous purchases. These mitts felt high quality but I could barely get my hands through the cuffs. When I did I couldn't fully extend my fingers, the mitts were so small. They fit my wife's hands -- she kept these as hers. I'm sure these are nice mittens if you can nail the size, but given this was a mail-order purchase I feel the sizing should be more accurately represented.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Criticalscouter from Gortex Mittens I am pleased with these mittens so far. Anytime I buy something advertised as water proof the first thing I do is turn on the sink and test them out. These passed. Then yesterday I took them out in the freezing rain and stayed as dry as a very dry bone(even when I put them in the bird bath). As far as the warmth goes I don't have any complaints. I find that as long as your hands are warm when putting them in the mittens they stay that way more or less. With the sizing, my hands are about 4 inches at the widest part of my palm and 7 1/2 inches from bottom of palm to top of middle finger. I wear a men's large with this mitten and still have a little extra room for a thin polartex glove liner. Overall I am happy with how these mittens have held up. I gave this only 4 stars because I do not know how they will stand up to cold weather and frequent use over time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MDIslander from Yes, but These are really nice mittens...but I ordered the extra large in order to wear a light pair of gloved inside the mittens - it gets really cold up here on the coast of Maine in the winter and my hands get cold easily. I don't have large hands, but the extra large were tight without the extra pair of gloves. I gave them to my wife, so I will have to continue the search for a pair for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by retafguy from Men's GTX PrimaLoft Ski Mittens I bought them to use to keep my hands warm while operating a snow blower. I thought a $50 pair should do the job. I put these on over 2 other pair of mittens and my hands are still cold. The second time I used them I added a chemical hand warmer (Hothands) and just my thumb was cold. The "hands" of these mittens is just 2 layers of a thin cloth-like fabric. Had I got them at a store rather than mail order I most likely would not have gotten them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanBootLover from Love the Gloves! These LL Bean gloves do the trick and more! Just took them to upstate NY for the test and they passed with flying colors. They go on so smoothly and feel so soft and warm (and the linings don't follow your hands out of the gloves), more so than any other ski gloves I've owned. The kept me warm x-country skiing on a frozen lake as well as taking the gondola to the top of the mountain. Note: I did put hand warmers in the gloves for the mountaintop experience and there was plenty of room to fit them in. As some others have said, just order the next larger size if you measure up medium. I have to add that I was really impressed to find a glove with a "squeegee" on one thumb to wipe your glasses/goggles plus a soft thumb area to wipe your nose with. So happy to finally find a ski glove that keeps my hands warm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from X-Large Mens too small - might be Medium Womens I already returned a pair of Bean's Snow Mittens X-Large because they did not have any insulation - they fit , even just a tad too big. I invested in a pair of these. Well, I felt like OJ when I attempted to put these on! Tight and too small. So I will be returning this pair and consider trying the Baxter State Parka Mittens. Or shop elsewhere. SUMMARY: No consistency in sizing. Too small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MomtoDogandBoy from Runs Small, but Soft and Warm Based on the comments in other reviews, I ordered a Large for my 12-year-old (5'6", 110 lb) for ski club and they fit just fine, with a bit of room that I think he can get at least 2 seasons, maybe more, out of them and if they are in good shape, I'll use them for dog walking since they fit me, too. He wore them last week in about 10 degree weather here in MN and said his hands were warm, even hot in them. However, he is always hot these days!
