Rated 1 out of 5 by leakybucket from Failed immediately I love the look of these boots. However the construction is very poor. I am returning my second pair and the pull tab on these is only marginally better than the tab on the first pair. The leather is very thin and stitched quite poorly. When using the tab to put the boots it failed completely on the very first attempt with the first pair. With the second pair I was able to put the boots on twice before the tabs started to tear. The leather literally tore, I'm not impressed at all with the quality of manufacture and do not trust these boots going forward with even light wear given my experience with two separate pair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CounselorTed from Same problem as other reviews Just like other reviewers, I tried to put on these boots for the first time and the boot straps broke. I'm not real strong and didn't pull hard. I exchanged for another pair, and again, same problem. L.L. Bean, please take these out of your inventory; they're ruining your hard earned reputation. It's a shame because I really liked how they looked. I should have read reviews before buying. Those who have the foresight to read before buying, please take our advice and pick a different model of boot. L.L. Bean, please show your supplier these reviews so that they give you better products and so that they don't harm your reputation any further!

Rated 5 out of 5 by NHMountains from Extremely Comfortable Boot This is the best boot I’ve owned in my life. Very comfortable. The leather gives a great fit. The one change that should be made is to the pull tab on the upper rear of the boot. It needs to be doubled up to run the full length of the back and stitched better. It’s stitched at the top of the loop and eventually pulls off right at the top where it’s sewn. If it ran an inch further and was stitched in two places it wouldn’t break so easily. Ten cents in extra leather and thread would make a $20 difference. Without using the pull tab they’re a little difficult to pull on easily. Other than that issue they’re great boots. Please make this design change.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mandoman66 from Returned 2 pair for failed pull on loops With 2 pair of these boots, the pull on loop ripped immediately upon trying them on out of the box with just a gentle tug to help pull the boot on. Very aggravating and disappointing since I like the look of these boots and finding nice boots in wide sizes can be difficult. Giving them one last try with my 3rd pair now. I just tried on the 3rd pair and they seem ok. Let's see how they are with a little wear. There appears to be manufacturing defect in this boot since 2 pair failed in exactly the same way. Size is good. I go between 11 and 11.5 in wide depending on the shoe. The 11.5 fits well for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by bostonandCA from shoddy construction I bought these boots last Christmas and they started falling apart this summer -- and I live in California, where there is basically no weather of any kind to put stress on leather. I ordered a replacement pair, which literally broke their very first time out of the box (the boot pulls snapped off of BOTH boots). These boots are poorly made. They're not worth the asking price, and they are definitely not what I expect from LLBean. Don't waste your time or money here.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BHinMaine from Scuffs Easily Just moved to Maine and these are the 1st pair of L.L. Bean boots I've ever purchased. Nice looking boot and comfortable for all day wear. The online pictures are accurate, and they arrived quickly. It seems very easy to scuff the leather on these and they creased very easily as well. I've had these for about 3 weeks and I did not expect the leather to be so easy to damage or wrinkle. I often find scuffs after wearing for just a short time during the day. Most of the scuffs will polish out, but the top of one of these has some permanent damage already. I will probably call and see if I can replace these with another type or pair. Photos are from one day of walking/office wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Poorss from East Point Nice lightweight boot for casual wear and yard work. With no reviews to go by on this new boot I ordered a full size larger than my foot size (7.5EE) and found them to be long and roomy. Returned for exchanged for a half size smaller and fit is great. Good Initial impression of the boot and you cannot beat LLBean for customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RORRIS1 from Comfy Cozy! Bought these a few months back and have never been more satisfied with a purchase in my entire life. INSANELY comfortable boot. I've used these for long hikes, outdoor chores, and casual wear and get compliments all the time. It's starting to get cold in the northeast and look forward to seeing how they perform while out stacking wood. I suspect they'll perform more than adequately. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
