Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old pair wore out, new pair is even better I got my first pair (Navy, 6") in 2012, and they were my favorite pair of shorts until the butt wore out in 2015. I'm a cyclist, and I guess the wear and tear from being on a bike regularly did them in. L.L. Bean gladly replaced them, and my new pair feels more durable than the last one. They've increased the cotton strength without compromising softness, pliability, or comfort. These shorts are more comfortable, more durable, better fitting, and better looking than any shorts I can find for the same price—or much more. They're just as great in town and in the office as they are outdoors. Excuse me while I order a second pair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why the crease?? Note well: these shorts have an unremovable crease in the pant legs. I thought I was buying regular old chino shorts WITHOUT the non-iron fabric and accompanying crease, but these shorts come out of the dryer with a silly looking crease right up the front of both legs. I just wanted some casual shorts, but Bean doesn't make them anymore. If I wanted the non-iron shorts, I would have bought non-iron shorts. To the people at Bean: please stop using non-iron fabric for every pair of chino shorts you make, regardless of how you label them. Pretty please.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great shorts for warm climates Nice fabric for shorts, not too heavy, and the fit is not baggy. More importantly, they are available in 6" inseams. I'm 5'7 & ~160 lbs, and I've finally caught on that knee length 9"+ shorts are not flattering for guys under 5'9" or so. These hit below mid thigh but several inches above my knee, and paired with a trim fit polo & a pair of boat shoes, they really look great and are cooler than longer shorts anyway. These are basically the same length & style shorts I wore in the late 1980s before everyone starting wearing them so long...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from sizing wrong I purchased these shorts last year for my husband and he loved it. I made sure I ordered the same item, checking the product code, and ordered a different color. The shorts came but could not be buttoned as the waist band was at least an inch smaller than the original pair. I'm so disappointed that the sizing is not true on the same product from year to year. The only difference we saw is this year the shorts were made in Malaysia as opposed to China. I"m returning them and am afraid to reorder

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice shorts I have been suspect that the stain resistant cotton material now being used for LL Bean chinos would not measure up to the "old" cotton material used in years past. In fact, I have returned LL Bean chinos because I didn't like the feel. These shorts, however, have a natural cotton feel and are very nice. Mine are the classic cut and I really like the look. They are not baggy and fit me perfectly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They're All I Wear I live in Florida. About Nine months out of the year this is all I put on my body. I like how they look. This may sound vain, but I think they make me look a little trimmer. I don't know how water resistent they are, an advertising feature. I don't care. They're cotton. I just ordered my 7th and 8th pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good as any I bought 2 pairs of these shorts at the first of summer and they are a good as any I have owned. Let me say here that I am a clothes hound. The crease stays and when I take them from the dryer, I just smooth them out with my hand. Are they perfect, no but they are really good; not quite a 5 but a 4.5.The only con is that the classic fit is cut a little close in the thigh. I think I will order the other fit next time just to compair. Anyway, I really don't think you can get much better for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from colour fades quickly This is a great wearing short. They look terrific on men with shorter legs and they wear well - except the darker colours fade very quickly. My husband wears them everyday (avid golfer) and finds them very comfortable. Unfortunately the navy blue colour fades after about 10 -12 washings and therefore they don't look as crisp as they would otherwise. I have dyed his two pairs of dark shorts twice now but the colour doesn't hold. The two khaki pair hold their colour and shape well and always look nice and crisp.
