Rated 4 out of 5 by CCK482 from Great, versatile buy I am just shy of 5'9" and weigh about 200 lbs. The medium was the way to go for me. Jacket is VERY warm despite being very lightweight. Haven't taken the lining out, it being winter and all, but I can see it being a great spring rain jacket as well. Hood fits great. Pockets are convenient. A couple of folks have brought this up already, but it can be a little tight around your butt when you sit down. It's easy to just pull it up a bit right before you sit...but I guess you just have to think whether you're someone who's going to be bothered by that sort of thing. ;) Overall: A great, versatile buy for cold, wet New England winters and springs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BostonWalt from awesome - runs large can't get enough of this coat. i've been wearing the liner, the shell, or the combo every day since i got it. two notes - 1) regarding the waterproofing, i haven't had anything leak through, but the fabric definitely gets wet. it dries quick so it's not a big deal but it's kinda annoying. i bought a waterproofing spray so hopefully that'll make it repel water better 2) i think it runs pretty large. i'm 5'10" 200lbs and i usually wear a size L in everything, but this size L was too big so i had to exchange it for a medium which is perfect. i can't remember ever buying anything else in size M recently...

Rated 4 out of 5 by TallBrooklynLady from Practical yet Stylish Bought as a surprise for my boyfriend who didn't have a winter coat. He needed one that would be sensible for a city subway commuter yet professional as he met clients. This one fits the bill. Besides its super practical-bang-for-your-buck with a 3-in-1 (which I knew would be a selling point for my skeptical man), it is stylish (a compliment coming from Brooklyn). He is 5'10" and slim (165). The medium was a perfect fit (with room for a sweater underneath on the colder days). He said it is definitely warm enough the arm length is good. Gave 4 stars (for now) only because he's worn it for a few weeks but he says he is super satisfied with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Love it but the fit... The jacket seems perfect for a winter coat here in New England: warm, water shedding. It's also stylish in the design but not the cut, it's boxy and is big below the chest for the recommended size (in my case medium) if you are an athletic build. I am 5' 8", 170lbs, a 39" chest, 34" sleeve, a 33" waist. I ordered medium which gave me the right sleeve length and chest width but, it is too big below the chest. If I carried more weight in my stomach it might work. Also note it covers my butt. I don't mind it and that would make it a good ski jacket too. I will be sending it back and hope I can find a small and that the small fits.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CampingSteve from Nice casual jacket but runs a size or two large Sizes are very big. I wear a small for other LL Bean clothes and this jacket in small could still fit another me inside of it. The chest measurement was not 34-36" for a small as listed in the size chart, it was more like a 40"+. If the fit wasn't so comically large I would have kept this jacket. This jacket looks very nice and has a casual design which I like for around town; I didn't want a technical looking ski piece. The 3-in-1 design is convenient and gives a lot of wearing options. My wife has the women's version of this coat and loves it. I wish the men's version was just cut and sized better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WPat from great three season jacket The jacket is not heavy to wear, provides the warmth as advertised, I usually order large in most things I buy, but I ordered a med. based on another customers review. It fits great, can wear a sweater underneath and the jacket still fits comfortably. Quality of construction I'm impressed with from the zippers to the material. The only negative is that the sleeves are to long for a med. size jacket. Without rolling them up they completely cover my hand if you hold up your arm to see where they lie. I don't know why they do that. Still a great value for the money. I bought this to replace a field jacket that just about had it after 25 years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Glucks from Not water proof I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend whose job requires that he be outside year round. It had great reviews and I thought I had found the perfect jacket to keep him warm and dry while also looking good. The jacket does look nice on, but unfortunately it did not keep him warm nor dry. Water pooled in certain spots and he came home with wet patches all over his clothes. Maybe we got a lemon? I'm not sure if we should try exchanging it for another one or just try another jacket all together. All I know is the one we have is junk and I'm very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Leutie from Dressy Casual I was looking for an everyday jacket that would still be dressy enough to wear to concerts, plays and evening out events. And this jacket fits the bill nicely. If the occasion requires a Sport jacket or suit coat, removing the inner liner/jacket makes for a more comfortable fit. The removable hood is a good feature - keeping the jacket in the casual-dressy category and eliminating the bulky collar look that is typical with a "tuck-in" hood. One caveat - I used the measuring guide in the Bean catalog and ordered a size LARGE, which turned out to be too small through the shoulders. Replaced with an EXTRA-LARGE the problem was solved.
