Rated 5 out of 5 by vmijpp from This Is a Good Piece of Gear This is a good piece of gear! I found it by way of a Dave Canterbury / Wilderness Outfitters video, in which he said that LL Bean had kinda sorta hit a home run with this, and he was right. I haven't used it for very long or overnight hikes yet, but I have done several shorter one, ~4 - 5 miles in varying terrain. Results have been uniformly outstanding. The straps and belt are just right, I've never had a pinch point or chafing issue. Enough capacity in main pouch and side pouches for necessities and more, and I love the pass-through side pockets which fit a pack-axe nicely. Only wish the top flap and bottom straps were longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Excellent all around pack I had been searching for something with a little more volume than my last pack. Also something with exterior water bottle pouches. After seeing one youtube video review I figured for the money what have I got to lose. Well let me tell you this pack has met all of my expectations and more. My first two hikes were in heavy snow and everything inside remained dry. The pack was heavily loaded with food, all my bushcraft tools and even a wool blanket and carried extremely comfortably.I carry it every day to and from work as well and couldn't be more thrilled. If you are thinking about it, just get it, you will not be dissapointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scramble4a5 from Old school looks with modern performance I bought this pack specifically to use as a day pack on a trip to the Boundary Waters. Assuming it would get wet I treated it with 2 coats of 303 Fabric Protector. I tried it on some day hikes during the spring and found it quite comfortable and roomy. This pack was fantastic on my canoe trip. It held all of my day pack essentials like rain gear, water bottle, first aid, dry shirt, fishing tackle, lunch and more. On our last day, traveling back to the outfitter, it rained on us steadily for 4 1/2 hours. Everything in the pack stayed dry. Keep in mind it was riding in the bottom of the canoe in some bilge and with rain coming down. Although it looks old school it works for today's adventuring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bklyn from A first-class upgrade to an LL Bean classic This is my third Continental Rucksack in 40 years -- I bought the first at the store in 1977. I wore one out, the second is serviceable but no long waterproof and is shedding the waterproofing inside the main compartment (after 20 years of us.). The new model has stayed both light and rugged -- but improves on the previous version by adding a backpack sleeve and a nylon lining to the main compartment both of which make this a better pack. The grey looks great and I now use it as a briefcase, an overnight bag for short business trips, as well as my go-to day hike pack. I couldn't be happier with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JBMak from Good Rucksack! I have always admired the rucksacks sold by LLBean. I finally got one and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. I was a little concerned that it might be too big, but it is just right for my use. I got it for a planned trip to Europe and have used it a couple of times already for overnight and three day trips. Perfect for a guy's stuff, 2-3 changes of clothes inside, toiletries in a pocket, chargers, etc in another pocket, packable jacket in another). Material is good quality. I also like the padded tablet pocket inside. Fasteners seem to be tight and of good quality. Nice appearance. I recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KOG1 from Highly recommended I bought this Rucksack for my daughter who is soon finishing college and needed it immediately for carrying books. Knowing that she won't be needing it for books much longer, she chose this backpack for everything from school to travel to hiking. She has already used it when traveling home on Amtrak, and for carrying books to class, but will have it for all her future travel needs. She states, "Basically there is a ton of space and no matter how much you put into it, it stays comfortable. I've used it for everything from school work to travel."

Rated 5 out of 5 by STRESSLESS from Best Rucksack This is the best rucksack on the market. Very will designed and the quality is second to none. Great choice of colors. I replaced my 511 backpack for this pack and have never looked back. When you start loading this pack you will see how they really went over the top with design and quality. This pack is a little smaller than the 511 but it holds just as much gear and is much easier to pack and find your gear. No zippers is a big plus. LL Bean makes high quality will thought out gear. Most of the time you get what you pay for but in this case I got much more than I paid for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GoFeesh85 from Continental Rucksack Just received my LL Bean Continental Rucksack and my first impressions are nothing but great. The quality of this bag is by far excellent especially considering the price point. I already have it loaded up for a weekend trip to the woods. One of my favorite features is the space behind the side pouches that you can use to hold trekking poles or in my case a hatchet - brilliant feature. All stitching seems to be spot on and the buckles are very sturdy and work just fine. It is very comfortable for a rucksack type backpack. Very happy with this purchase.
