Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to apply I let the hot sun heat up my Bean Boots and apply the Boot Guard and it gets very thin and goes into the leather quickly. It seems to darken them slightly. Now that I have used it about a dozen times I find that it has less beeswax than the old dressing that was sold so that explains the thinning when hot, the old one was difficult to heat up and get it into the leather but waterproofed it better once you did. Maybe multiple coats in the sun will help it not leave areas with dressing worn areas and I will not feel the dampness in my socks from the wet grass. I hunt 12 months a year and have owned Bean Boots since 1969 and rate this Boot Guard 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff I treated two pairs of riding boots with Boot Guard, and my boots look and feel great. One of the pairs had suffered bad scuffs and some water stains, but Boot Guard was like nourishment for the leather, which now feels smooth and supple. This wax mixture is not sticky at all, so it is pleasant to use, and it even smells good. I use an extra-soft toothbrush to work it in where edges meet, and then I rub it in all over with warm fingers using a circular motion. I can't wait to treat my belts and bags with this. Also, as a plus, my hands feel extremely soft afterwards. Wish I had known of this product sooner. No one told me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome stuff I didn't know what to expect from this boot guard but the store clerk explained to me all about it and why i should use it. This is superior to other boot guards in my opinion as it is easy to work with. when using this boot guard, first make sure your boots are clean. apply in small circles on the boot until the entire boot is finished. I recommend letting it dry until you finish the second boot (work on one at a time) and then using a horse hair brush to buff the shoe. this product WILL darken leather so if you like the current color be careful. it took me from a brown to an espresso brown on the katahdin boot. i ended up ordering another one of these since i had a free gift card from their promo. one tub will last at least a year

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buying Bean Boots - But This Too After 15+ years, finally broke down and bought a new pair of Beat Boots this year - and wanted to treat them better from the get go. A number of articles and videos on Bean Boot care all pointed back to applying Boot Guard a few times before wearing my new boots as a great way to soften and waterproof the leather. 100% agree with said recommendations, as my boots (after 40+ wears this winter) look as good as the day I bought them. They broke in easier and repelled water and snow even better than they did out of the box. Amazing stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leather treatment material Many leathers used in footwear today are advertised as basically maintenance free, etc., but I have found that despite advances in leather tanning, leather needs care. Boot Guard replenishes leather, keeping it soft and flexible plus retaining leather color in boots that are subjected to what I call, extreme wear conditions which causes the best full grain leathers to dry out, become stiff and yes, even form cracks or openings in the leather. When paying $150.00 or $200.00 (even more in some cases) for a pair of good boots, take some time to clean them and apply Boot Guard for longer life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YOU NEED THIS This small jar could easily do the work of 10 cans of waterproofing spray. I've been able to protect my own shoes, but several friends as well. Not only does it have no odor, but it applies so nicely on to Bean Boots. I have applied this boot guard onto several other shoes as well. It does tend to darken whatever shoe you rub it into, but after jogging through a downpour in boat shoes that were treated with this product, I will NEVER go back to spray waterproofing. Absolutely one of the best investments you will make in protecting footwear

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! Never expected it to be this good. I’m a long time boot wearer (mostly cowboy boots) so I frequently use various boot conditioners and cleaners which I thought worked great, until I got some Bean boots and bought the boot guard to go with them. After treating the new Bean boots I turned my attention to the cowboy boots. The pair below are over 5 years old and the before and after is unbelievable. I did 2 pair of cowboy boots and the Bean boots and have plenty left to treat other shoes. I’m sold on this being my new go-to leather protectant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Compliment to Bean Boots Boot guard is the perfect compliment to your new (or old) boots. I got a pair of Bean Boots from the fall small batch collection and added a coat of boot guard cream before I ever wore them out. Not only did this soften the leather even more and help them to break in easier - but it made them even more water resistent than they are out of the box. I have since used it on several pair of shoes to add some moisture to the leather. Best product of its kind I have ever used.
