Rated 4 out of 5 by MountainsToCity from Run large I wear a 7.5 in almost every shoe out there, but followed advice from other reviewers to order a 7. The 7 is still oddly long and leaves room in the toe box, but I don't mind a little space for downhills and thick socks. They could definitely have more arch support and padding--the insoles feel very hard and don't give a lot of support, so I'll probably remove the insoles and put in my own. Aside from these drawbacks: They're super cute! I love the vintage style! And they feel sturdy and well-made without being too heavy. Glad I was able to grab these on sale!

Rated 4 out of 5 by MyDogArchie from Well-Cushioned, Retro-Look Hiking Shoe First I would like to mention this shoe runs big. It is sized to be worn with hiking socks. I usually wear a 7.5 and it was quite large even with hiking socks. Returned for 7.0 and was perfect. Brought this to Ireland as my second hiking shoe and it was great. Very well cusioned in the heel with good side to side support and a nice tread. If you need a lot of arch support this might not be the shoe for you unless you change out the insert. It's now my go-to-dog-walking-shoe as well!

Rated 3 out of 5 by KSCats from No arch support I wanted to like these shoes, and I tried, but the toe box is nor deep enough to add a full foot orthopedic insert, nor is there enough arch support for me. They would probably be fine for someone who does not need arch support. I did find them comfortable to wear when I used an off the shelf insert at first, but after a short time my feet and back hurt too much to leave them on. I didn't even get a chance to go walking in them, this was just around the house. I like the looks of the shoes but they do not work for my feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by beaner500 from Great hiking shoes I purchased these for a walking vacation where the terrain would be rolling hills, nothing difficult. The shoes felt comfortable right out of the box. I walked around in them for approximately 2 weeks before the vacation. These are not sneakers; they are more supportive and a little heavier than sneakers, ie. made for hiking. I'd go with a high rise hiking boot if I was going on steep terrain with loose stone, but for easy hikes these are cooler, lighter and just ideal. I love them and would purchase them again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by my3dogs from Great support I bought the ankle boot version of this shoe and loved them so much, decided to try these. Thought the sizing would be the same, but as everyone else said, they do run large. Had to reorder 1/2 size down to get proper fit for wearing light to medium socks. I like the firm support and very good arch support in this shoe. Look great with jeans and the sole has decent traction. Wore right from the box all day walking on pavement and grassy areas. They look like they should hold up a long time--

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rhubarb737 from Love Them! Just got back from my first outing in these shoes and was so happy with them, I was inspired to write a review! I was looking for a low-height day hiker. First of all, I love the look of these-I got the graphite/cayenne and they had a vibrant, vintage sort of look that really suits my taste. Next-while they run slightly wide at the ankle meaning I had to tighten the laces a bit, they fit me well in my normal size in Bean which is 8.5. I have a big toe injury with traumatic arthritis and the toe box in no way hurt my toe and as I walked in them, I didn’t notice any pain from my toe-they were super comfy right out of the box. They have a cushioned spongy feeling as you walk. The sole definitely feels robust enough for light hiking, but probably wouldn’t be good for super rough terrain and you’d probably want more ankle and arch support for tougher hikes also. They feel lightweight to wear and just very cozy. I paired them with cotton rag 1/4 crew socks from Bean and found that to be a nice combo for an early fall hike with cropped leggings. I really like them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by WillTravelForFood from Comfortable, supportive, and adorable Tested these puppies straight out of the box with a 15-mile hike down Manhattan's Hudson River Greenway, and they performed beautifully! No rubbing, chafing, or blisters at all, and the supportive sole held up. As with all LL Bean shoes, I sized down from my usual 7 to a 6 1/2 and the fit was perfect with my hiking socks. These will be my go-to shoes for long days of walking from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by egrosenb from Love these shoes! I just picked up a pair of these at the store and absolutely love them! They are sturdy, supportive, comfortable, and are great for both day hikes and around town. I bought the graphite/cayenne and the colors are so unique and have a way of going with everything. One thing to note is that they were on the larger side for me. I normally wear a 7.5 or 8, but bought these in a 7 (and there is still room to spare if I want to wear thicker socks in cooler weather). Highly recommend!
