Why We Love It
It’s no secret that elementary-school students love our Original Book Packs, so we created a smaller version for all the little brothers and sisters out there. It’s just as tough as the original, but sized to fit younger kids because packing treasures around the backyard can sometimes be just as important as carrying books and homework to school.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Erin from Great, but definitely junior Got this bag for our son in kindergarten. It worked well for the year since all he ever had to put in it was a folder or two, the occasional library book, and his lunch box. It was also appropriately proportioned for his 5-6 year old body size. We never found the front accessory pockets useful-a single open pocket (without dividers, key loop, second pocket) would have sufficed. Side water bottle pocket came in handy, and I definitely appreciated the big reflector stripe. We found that once he got to first grade, where he had to carry more with him each day, this bag no longer fit the bill. Still in great shape, so we use it for weekend adventures and trips to grandma’s.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HappyBack from Use It Often Several years ago I bought this Junior Pack for myself. One reason was that I had a nice discount and the other reason was I am not too tall (5'3"). I usually carry a purse, but also use a cane. I had been using a crossbody bag, though that was beginning to get cumbersome with walking and also wanting to hold my husband's hand. When I switched to the backpack, my problem was solved. I like the somewhat smaller size of this pack and the lightweight but sturdy fabric and zippers. I did get a different print~bright pink background. The only things I wish were different is that it was offered in more colors for kids and made in the USA!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Twograndgirls from Nice Book Pack with scratchy straps! This is the second Junior Book Pack I have purchased for my granddaughter. Last year's model had softer straps that were comfortable on her shoulders. This year's Dahlia Purple Lazy Daisy book pack is different. First day of school, she complained and we told her it was new and would get better. Now, two weeks in, she gets off the bus with the straps pulled off her shoulders and holding it with her arms. Her shoulders are red and irritated. On the plus side, she adores her new back pack and won't change it. I just thought you would like to know that the straps are not comfortable for the children this year. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2GirlMom from Perfect Backpack for Little Ones This backpack was perfect for my daughter for Kindergarten. A full-size backpack was simply too big for her to carry but she needed one big enough for notebooks and other Kindergarten supplies. This one was the perfect size. It still looks just like new after a year of use. We are upgrading her now to the Original Size backpack for 1st grade and this Junior one will be passed down to her younger sister for preschool - kindergarten.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smartte2010 from Great packpack for pre-k and kindergarten Fantastic bag. Love the embroidered name. It doesn't show dirt and i have yet to wash in. (He got it for august and it is currently 1 week before summer vacation) it fits his lunchbox, vest or sweater, his school stuff and if needed his shoes as well. It barely shows any signs of wear and our son is not the gentlest with his things. It is the berfect size as to where is is positioned on the back. Not too big. Straps are padded ans comfortable. Outside pocket and a side pocket for a water bottle. Will buy again for my daughter when she starts kindergarten in september 2019. I highly recommend. Our son got the sharks. And his little girl friend got the dinosaurs. Both lovely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Letsdrinkcoffee101 from The Best backpacks for young kids! I bought this backpack for my preschooler two years ago. It held up amazing with everyday use. I am buying a new one now but only to change colors, the one we bought two years ago could last many more years. They are the perfect size for ages 3-7 but can still hold alot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CaroWills from Great! I bought the dino pattern for my son 3 years ago when he started pre-school and it's holding up really well. I've thrown it into the washer a few times and it looks like new! We have the matching lunch box which is looking a little beat up but that's to be expected. My only complaint is that I came back to buy a matching backpack and lunch box set for my daughter who will start preschool in the fall and there wasn't a matching option for the floral pattern. It was really nice for a 2-year-old to know which lunch belongs to them because it matched their backpack. Hopefully, LL Bean will have more patterns available closer to back to school time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MomInTheBuckeyeState from Happy Mom I bought this backpack for my 3 year old entering Jr. Pre-k (we got the dinosaur print.) He used it that 1st year, again in Sr. Pre-K as a 4 year old and it lasted (yet again) for a 3rd year as a 5 year old in Kindergarten. It has been washed a handful of times and still looks great. We will be updating to a bigger size for 1st grade, but only because I have a pretty big 1st grader. (The bookbag looks like it could easily last another couple of years or so.) In case you're wondering- it can hold a lot, without being too big for a little guy. It holds my son's folder, lunch box, water bottle, story books, and a 3 ring binder. There's a front pouch for pencils, etc. As stated before, I highly recommend this backpack. It has taken a good beating these past 3 years and is still as good as new.
