Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanManna from Perfect weight and support My husband wears these socks for both dress and casual. The thickness works well with most of his shoes, and there is just the right amount of wool in them. He particularly likes the padding, so his feet don't hurt after a long day. He broke his foot several years ago, and the extra support to that area is very helpful. He walks a lot in his work, and these socks hold up very well. They also retain their shape, wash after wash. He much prefers these over others that he's received as gifts - you simply can't beat quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Heavy Midweight I've only worn them a couple times, so I can't address how they might hold up or wear over time. My initial impression is that they offer the usual Bean's quality, but the bottom half of the sock is somewhat heavier than I expected. I intended to wear these socks with dress shoes and, in retrospect, I would buy (or at least try) the lightweight version. I don't care for thin nylon socks, but I'm guessing now that Bean's "lightweights" would be about right for dress shoes. I'll try them next time. You could wear these with a boot or athletic shoes and, in my book, they would be about the right thickness.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Highcountryguy from MIXED The blue socks that come in the two-pack are exceptionally nice, but the stripped socks are just downright ugly. It's as if Bean needed to get rid of the striped ones so they paired them with something that is pretty nice. I would buy more of the blue if they didn't make you buy the stripes to get them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by racerpoet from Great Socks I've been looking for dress socks that keep my feet dry. I can't stand the nylon/acrylic stuff that other retailers sell. They're tight, annoying to put on and take off, and they just don't breathe. I took a look at some L.L. Bean socks after my neighbor got me a pair of the Merino Wool Ragg Socks (the warmest socks I've had). And then my dad went and bought two pairs of the Boot Socks one for himself and one for me. I have to say there is nothing bad I can say about any of the socks. I can wash them. Dry them. (And no, I admit, I don't use low heat, ever.) They don't really shrink. I don't understand what other's are saying about shrinking. They stretch right back out and are not tight at all. Also, they are called "Everyday Chino Socks" They aren't meant to be your super-warm socks. So I don't understand why someone would give them a low rating for that. Read the title. I wish L.L.Bean offered a larger variety of patterns. I love the dressy look. I know where I'm coming back to buy socks. I would highly recommend these socks to anyone!

Rated 3 out of 5 by puffinmom from Plain navy, please! I've purchased many of these socks for my husband in the past, and he loves them. Comfortable, durable, warm but not too warm. The only color that goes with his work clothes is plain navy, though. It's really disappointing that these are no longer available without also purchasing patterned socks that he would have no use for. Why plain black or gray, but not plain navy?

Rated 5 out of 5 by CSMCA10 from Solid blue without stripes or prints please! Have been wearing these socks in blue and taupe for a couple of years and really like them. I would like to purchase some new solid blue ones but can only get them paired with blue print??? No thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Barmy from I think there’s a manufacturing defect I either wear these, a merino dress sock, or a low cut athletic sock depending on my outfit. Every few years, I do a replenishment order to replace the socks that are worn out. I just placed another one and got 14 pairs. I took them out of the packaging — I don’t recall if they have the little plastic thingy holding them together, if so, I would’ve used my Swiss Army knife to cut that, rather than pulling it. I put them in the wash, on a normal warm wash/dry cycle. Then I put them in my sock drawer. As I’ve taken them out over the past few days to wear, I discovered that nearly EVERY pair has a hole in roughly the same spot. I’m confident that LL Bean will replace them, but I’m concerned that the replacements will be of similar quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by VHParker from Wicked good socks Now these are really nice socks, but I don't really say, "wicked good" because I'm not from Maine. Just thought I'd be clever and try to blend in. Anyway, these are of a medium thickness and very cushiony (is that a word?). They do breath somewhat and I can see me wearing these for 3 seasons out of the year. In fact I'm wearing them right now as I type. Of course I'm typing with my bare fingers, the socks are on my feet but it can't hurt, right? Now if Bean would just make a pair of merino socks on the lightweight side that you can wear to work in the summer. Life would really be "wicked good"! Oh and life would be "wicked, wicked good" if Bean would fix their order process and ship a lot quicker like they used to!
