Rated 1 out of 5 by Fitnesswalker from Sweatpant Quality Assurance Issue I walk outside in the cold weather. I specifically wanted a "closed bottomed" pant leg style to keep the wind from blowing into the legs. The elastic around the ankles is so loose! It measures 71/4 inches from seam to seam (not stretched out). That is a 14+in circumference. I have never met anyone with 14 in. ankles. I have to put rubber bands around the ankles to keep the wind out. I would strongly suggest that a better quality of elastic be used to gather the ankles for the "closed bottom" style sweats. If someone does not like the "snug" fit they should order the "open bottom" style. Very disappointed in the quality.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Robert69 from Warm and cozy but need help at the ankles! I got these sweatpants a few years ago and kept them for the quality construction, soft fabric and warmth. I never wore them outside, though, because there is so much extra material at the ankle I would trip over them! So, I just wear them around the house like pajamas. I grew up in the 60s and for those of you that remember bell bottoms that is what the bottom of the pants legs looks like. I am surprised with all the similar negative comments about this issue it would have been addressed. Anyway, this is the only problem I've ever had with an ll bean product, and it might not be a deal breaker for you. Maybe go down a size so they don't hit the ground!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kinnikinick from Loosely gathered leg The product is good quality, however, it is loosely gathered at the leg. I believe the industry and LL Beans product manager have lost sight of the purpose and functionality of a tighter fitting "gathered" leg. First and foremost it will keep you warmer and allow less cold air entrance. Second, it allows flexibility in sizing for people with shorter inseams. Third, by not stepping on my pant leg I won't have to wash as often. Fourth, by not stepping on my pant leg I'm less apt to trip and fall. Granted the product is somewhat gathered at the bottom and reasons three & four maybe a stretch. Why bother with a loose fitting gathered bottom - buy a straight leg version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mohoho from quality sweat pants Was looking for a pair of sweat pants made with the same kind of fleece used years ago (ie substantial fabric), side pockets and cuffed bottoms. I'm a female, who wears size 8/M in women's, 5'6'', and i just can't find anything like this in women's clothes anymore, where everything seems to be featherweight, clingy, made of spandex or nylon, pocketless, and open at the leg bottom. So, I looked at the men's department. Got these in the small size and am pleased overall. They fit my waist & hips (i'm curvy btw), inseam, and love the side pockets. The fabric could be a little heavier, but I like the fabric extra thick. Quality is excellent!

Rated 1 out of 5 by RachelW from Hole in the pocket - twice! I ordered these pants for my husband for Christmas. Unfortunately, they had a hole in the front right pocket, toward the bottom of the pocket. I exchanged them for a second pair and I was very surprised to find that they, too, had a hole in the front right pocket! My husband and I were both disappointed as these are otherwise a great pair of sweats to lounge in - but if you carry change in your pocket, it will fall right out! I was disappointed that both pairs of pants had the same defect - not at all like my accustomed experiences with Bean products! Customer service was excellent with helping me with the exchange and ultimately a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OnlyPercale from Best sweatpants There really is no comparison between LLBean's sweatpants and what you get at the department store. The quality level is so far superior that you wonder how you ever got along with those other sweatpants. As to quality, the sweatpants are thick and very soft and comfortable. They wash well although there is some shedding, but very little shrinkage. They appear extremely durable which I can not say for the department store and name brand sweatpants that I had bought previously. As with virtually every item I have purchased at LLBean, the quality of the merchandise changes your mind about what to expect in the quality of a garment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by maryanimal from Men get all the good stuff Best Sweats in the US, that's why I buy LL Bean sweats for men. I get the small and it fits all comfy fine, I only have to redo the elastic around the ankles (and it is getting harder and harder to customize factory made clothing these days) so that I don't trip while I am walking around, since I am short, and need to keep the ankle elastic in place. LL Bean fleece does not pill and I have washed it many times, as I live in sweats inside during the cold winters in New England. Too bad they no longer make traditional heavy sweats for women any more. The new "styling" for women is not for me. Thankfully I can adjust the men's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanHeaven from Warm as toast! I hightly recommend the Men's Sweat Pants. In the past I bought the women's sweat pants and they were very attractive and fit well. But they were not particularly warm during the winter and they weren't worn much. (Winter in NYC can be extremely cold/windy). Someone mentioned I should try the Men's Sweat Pants and lucky me, they are indeed much warmer. The fabric, in my opinion, is a more plusher & heavier fabric than that of the ladies sweats. True, they are not a "fashionable" looking item, but the warmth was more important. For reference, I'm 5'4", weight 142 and have a "pear type" figure. The Men's size Regular Medium fits very well. The pants have a tie waistband, so can be adjusted.
