Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice shirt This is my favorite all-around shirt for fall and winter, being great for outdoors and the cooler energy-saving interior temperatures. The fabric is lightweight yet warm but not itchy, and drys quickly when wet. The tailoring is attactive, the stiching is precise and the pockets are large and nicely shaped. This shirt replaces two I purchased in the early 90s, that I still wear, but are just now starting to wear through in places. I wish it were a bit heavier weave, because I ice fish and still hunt, but it is a very warm shirt. It actually rates a 5, but one button fell off in the first washing, unlke my 90s shirts that have never lost a button.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile fleece flannel shirt I bought this shirt in October 2009. I use it in two ways: 1) As a light jacket over short sleeve shirts during weather when switching between short and long sleeves; 2) As a mid or outer layer. It is easy to launder so can be wadded up in a pack, tossed on the floor of the van, or used as a pillow on a plane. As an outer layer over a base layer it will protect against mild winds and mist or very light rain for a good while. With a shell added it provides mid-range warmth. It drys faster than cotton or wool and is not scratchy against my skin like wool. I do not find it as pleasant against skin as nice cotton flannel. Altogether, it is a versatile shirt and never misses getting packed for vacation trips. At home it is a 3-season item. I do not use it as a regular shirt as I prefer thinner ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough and Good Looking I purchased my first shirt a year ago and liked it so much that I now have four of them. I wore the first one hard to see how it would hold up and it still looks practically like new. These shirts are warmer than chamois lighter in weight and dry extremely fast. They launder very nice and do not require ironing. The color retention is fantastic and they always look neat. They are roomy and wear well with a turtle neck or a L.L.Bean river driver shirt. I would highly recommend them to anybody who wants a neat looking shirt that will hold up to hard wear for work or play.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So big, the Collar Hangs I found this shirt a disappointment. Very nice looking fabric, but the artificial material feels creepy. Material also thinner than I would have expected. Worst of all, the shirt is cut way too large: I can fit the four fingers of both hands between the buttoned collar and my neck. The collar almost hangs on me. I am 6ft 1" tall. But other shirts I've ordered from Bean through the years in size Medium Tall fit me much better than this one. I will be returning this shirt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beware others' sizing recommendations Like this shirt! Ordered my usual Large in this-- and yes, while there is ample roominess in torso, it fits my shoulder width and arm length beautifully. If I had taken others' suggestion to order a size smaller, I would have had the hassle of returning that Medium for a Large! Let's call it "generously sized." Too, it is not a stretchy fabric, so you do not want it to be on the small-ish size. Good winter shirt, and seems that it should be uncommonly durable, too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handsome shirt, BUT.... This is a REALLY nice looking shirt (I got the Peat Moss color), well tailored, fits beautifully, BUT... when I started to sweat just the tinest amount IT FELT COLD AND CLAMMY, VERY ARTIFICAL FEELING material. Now, in all fairness, I have very senstive skin so it might not bother other people; but this shirt has proved once again (to me, at least) that there is nothing softer than COTTON flannel next to sensitive skin. Too bad, too. I really wanted it to work out. I still like LL Bean though and have been a regular shopper for over 40 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five stars for sure ! Just received this shirt and it exceeds expectations. Very well made and looks great. The fabric is substantial and perfect for cooler weather. The double pockets are sure to come in handy and I'm glad I read other reviews about ordering down a size. The XL fits perfectly ( I'm 6 ')and I was almost ordering XXL tall which would undoubtedly be too large. This is the kind of quality I've come to expect from LL Bean. Very happy with this shirt..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Men's Allagash Houndstooth Shirt Great looking shirt! Nice material with a great feel to it. Seems to be very good quality. Downside is that it runs way too big even for a relaxed fit. Bought along with a base camp shirt that fits great which was the same size.
