Rated 2 out of 5 by RedSoxfaninTroy from Signature Five Pocket Jeans Stretch Slim Straight I purchased two pairs of these jeans through LL Bean store via the Internet. Both pairs were size 34-32. One fit, one didn't. Go figure. The waist size was clearly smaller on one pair of jeans. The pair of jeans that fit had a slight frayed area on the inside zipper fly area. These jeans are $79.00. No way I was paying $79.00 dollars for defective jeans. I had purchased a previous pair of these pants in the light denim color and they were perfect so I was very disappointed in the medium denim jeans that I received. The materials also felt stiffer than the lighter colored faded jeans. Anyway....I took these back to the local store for refunds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by asdf from Wiggle Room I usually abhor the thought of anything other than 100% cotton in a denim jeans product, but it works for this pair that I purchased in Ecru so that I may have a white trouser option. They work well in the summer, the beach, or a cruise. The stretch fabric give you just a little more room to move and play and adds comfort I didn't expect. Straight-slim description is accurate; the cut is not skinny, nor is it baggy or "relaxed." I didn't detect shrinking in the waist or inseam, however having the 1% Lycra elastane may make this a moot point. I only wear these occasionally, so I cannot comment how the perform down the road.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Critter84 from Can’t get the smell out:( I absolutely love everything about these jeans...the cut, the denim, the distressing and the fit. Everything was perfect EXCEPT....the SMELL!! In the store I immediately noticed the strong odor that others have mentioned in their reviews. But I loved the jeans and figured the odor would simply wash out and so I went ahead and bought them anyway. To my dismay, after 3 heavy washings and an overnight soak in detergent the smell lives on! I’m really bummed because the jeans are awesome except for the chemical odor. Unfortunately for this reason I cannot recommend this product... Hope L.L. Bean finds a fix!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Movieman00 from Love them... but the material has a bad smell!! I'm a slim guy that is used to wearing levis. I love these jeans! They look and feel great on me - However, there is a very bad odor -and I believe it is coming from the formaldehyde treated on the material. It's a chemical like smell. I have not noticed any allergic reactions on my skin, but I'm concerned. I've washed them about 3 times (which I normally avoid with denim) and the odor seems to have weaken - but not entirely gone. I have not been back to the store to compare to other jeans, so it could just be mine. I did notice some other reviews about the smell - so it may be common with the jeans.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DigitalShooter from Good for the mall, not the mountain I've ordered several of these over the past year or two. I've sent two or three back because of the "washed"/pseudo-distressed patterns are over-done or just plain goofy-looking. (Those treatments also seem to change with some regularity -- not sure if they're changing suppliers or just trying to find out what sells.) I do like the general cut and the narrower legs. There is, however, a real trade off in this thinner, stretch material: these are city jeans -- they are not durable enough for serious out-of-doors work and activities. And, as others have noted, the pockets are way too shallow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Forrest1274 from Best Jeans I've Ever Had I've worn many, many different jeans over my life and these are hands-down the best. I've been working out for many years and it's hard to find jeans that fit my thighs while still looking modern and not baggy. The stretch in these easily conforms to my body and I swear they remember my shape. Superb quality and they look great. They've recently added more colors in this line and I say they need to add more! I really, really would like to see a pair of dark indigo jeans that could be worn for more formal occasions like they have for other lines of jeans.

Rated 2 out of 5 by WWorker from Short Zipper and Front Pocket Loved the jeans and the fit was fine. Unfortunately the first use revealed two major issues for me. First, the front pocket was not deep enough to hold a standard sized mobile phone (iPhone 6S). The phone would extend beyond the pocket by 1" or more when inserted vertically. It would barely fit inside the pocket if moved to a diagonal position. I measured the pocket depth of other slim fit jeans and they were at least 2" longer. The second issue was the very short zipper; again other jeans of similar style had zippers at least 1" longer. There is enough material to have a longer zipper. Maybe this is a "style" look, but it was not comfortable for me to use. I have returned both the Medium Indigo and Light Indigo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AnglerNC from Great jeans, bad smell I'm very happy with the fit and style of the jeans. Many brands don't make jeans in a 31" waist, so I was overjoyed to find that a reputable company like LL Bean had these, and they were exactly what I was looking for. However, I'm noticing the same smelly phenomenon that other reviewers have pointed out: these jeans have a distinct chemical odor to them. At first I thought I would only be able to smell it up close, like with my nose pressed against the fabric, but now I can sense it pretty much all the time when I'm wearing them. It's faint, but noticeable. I'd love an explanation from LL Bean for this stench, and whether it's fixable.
