Kids' Trail Model Hiker, Low is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tongue needs a redesign This shoe is really great and the most durable kids shoe I have ever purchased, aside from the tongue being too short. The top of the tongue and where the laces tie are right at the same place, the tongue slips down or to the side, and it is very uncomfortable for my son. Sneakers with ties tend to have a tongue that comes up a bit behind the laces. I believe this shoe was modeled after a competitor shoe which has velcro at the top rather than laces, when velcro is at the top, a shorter tongue can work. I would love to buy another pair of these shoes, but I cannot until the tongue is fixed. Going with the competition for now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and colorful! Being Scouts, my family and I wore these shoes throughout the years, hiking, crossing streams, climbing, camping, cooking class and traveling. They never failed us. We traveled through Europe with them and they were so comfortable. We have tried several brands throughout the years, but we keep coming back to these, in fact I've thrown away newer pairs and still keep old pairs of these. I can also fit orthopedic inserts for Plantar fasciitis with no problem. My only preference is for the toggle shoelaces, they are easy to put on and to slip off when you are tired of walking all day! I also wish you made larger sizes, children's feet keep growing and they need children's shoes, not adult's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally Thank you ll bean for bring back a great shoe. My 7 year old loves them. I use to buy the Mocs, but the last few years they have gone way down hill with bad laces and poor construction. This hiker we are using as a tennis shoe for school and it's perfect. Very well constructed, tie laces and cushy bottom. Exactly what we were looking for. I took them to my sons foot Dr. to get fitted with orthotics and he was impressed as well. Thank you for bring back a quality shoe. Mom

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made, but not water resistant I was looking for solid rain defense for spring hiking in the Pacific Northwest. We tried them out this weekend on a 4-5 mile hike in light rain and my kids came back with soaked feet. My daughter's feet really hurt. I thought the insoles were pretty thin considering they're hiking boots too. We did not bring other shoes so they had to wear wet shoes all weekend. I'll be returning hers. My son may keep his because he goes through shoes quickly, and I do think these will hold up better for school and fair weather hikes, but I will need to buy something else for hiking in the rain which is a bummer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Shoe, Bad Laces This would be a 5 star shoe if LL Bean paired it with a good lace. The shoe itself has held up well and has good traction for little ones hiking in the mountains. It is baffling to me how a company can make this good of a shoe and not couple it with a decent lace. Short of using superglue, it is impossible to keep these shoe laces tied, and generic replacement laces don't color match

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome kid shoes My son is tough on shoes, and will blow through cheap ones in 4 weeks. The current pair he is on have lasted for 7 months. I've had to replace the laces, but the tread and the shoe overall are holding up perfect. I've only had to replace them as he outgrows them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kid hiking boots MY son needs shoes with adequate midsole and outsole for support that will fit his custom insoles and these are perfect. There are typically only a couple brands and styles that we have to choose from and those all squarely fall into the indoor sneaker family. When he wears his shoes outside they don't last two months before the outsole has disappeared. These are great for running around the yard, light trails or really anything else an energetic elementary-age kid wants to do outside. Great traction and enough waterproofing for everything but puddle-jumping. They're also light enough that he can wear them for extended periods just like sneakers. Lasted all winter as his primary, every day, shoe to school, around town and outside except for those four snowstorms we had. Still going strong.
