Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and waterproof I would definitely recommend these shoes as they are comfortable and, without yet having been in a total downpour, waterproof. However, purchase them and wear them at least a week prior to an extensive walking/hiking trip as they take some getting used to. In the first week, the shoes gave me blisters on the back of my feet, but those went away after a week (though I continued using band-aids in the affected areas just in case). My only real issue, funnily enough, is with the laces. They are have way too much wax on them so that they constantly come undone, to the point where I had to change them for a pair of ordinary laces off my old sneakers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inside won’t last as long as the outside Pro - I wear these shoes everyday to walk the dog (2-3 miles), and they are great. They provide good support and are comfortable. This is why I would recommend this item, but with the caveat below. Con - The reason I gave only 3 stars is because the fabric lining the inside of the shoe back by the heel/ankle starts to wear out in just months while the outside, including the sole, is fine. This is my third pair of this model (trail model low), one ventilated and the last two waterproof, and it’s happened with all of them. I’ve only had my latest pair for 3 months, and the interiors on both are already starting to wear away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable for walking on pavement I live at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in South Central Colorado. Needless to say, my shoes and hiking boots get quickly beat up. I needed a nice looking walking shoe for a trip to Chicago where over the course of a week-end I must have logged around ten miles of walking on pavement. Right out of the box, these shoes were comfortable. No pain or fatigue issues at all. Navigated airports going and coming without a twinge. I have wide feet and shopping for shoes can be a nightmare. These were great. I have boots so probably won't put these to the test on the trails here. It's nice to have one good pair or shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice shoes I wanted a sturdy pair of shoes for everyday use. Because I wear orthotics and have large bunions, most shoes aren't comfortable enough. I also walk at least one hour a day by the water or in the woods and waterproof really helps. So far these shoes have made the grade. I take 9 1/2 or 10 and the 10 wide fit perfectly except in the heal where they are too wide. But without bunions my foot would not be wide and I can work with the lacing to help with this. My only concern is that they go up a little higher than I like. They look as stylish as a size 10 wide sneaker can look and they are quite comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adequate but not for me I purchased these shoes for an upcoming trip to Scotland. I wanted something waterproof. The day after they arrived I wore them for two miles on a wet road. They kept my feet dry, for sure. But they were too clunky feeling. I was hoping for a lighter weight, easily packable pair of hiking shoes. These were not that. They're good looking shoes, and comfortable. But they just feel like they take up too much space on my feet. I exchanged them for another brand and am hoping those work better for what I need. I've ordered many pairs of hiking shoes and boots from LLBEAN and have loved them all, never returned any. These just weren't exactly what I was looking for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Trail Model 4 Waterproof hiking shoes I bought these for my daughter sight unseen. I purchased them because they were waterproof, hiking shoes rather than boots and seemed a little more suited to her needs. I also liked that they came in wide sizes, as my daughter's size seems to vary by 1/2 size, depending on the manufacturer and the width. After she received them, she noted (as have others) that they seemed generally comfortable, but were tight in a few areas. She was going to try them with a lighter pair of socks and was considering at least traveling to a store to try another size. It might be important to try them and wear them around the house for a bit to make sure that they don't bind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Made Shoe but not for me This is an excellent hiking shoe and well constructed. I wish that it had been the right shoe for me. I ordered wide to accommodate the bunion on my right foot, big toe. That was fine, but the with the added width I did not fit on the arch support which is in the foot bed. The space felt too wide. If I go with the regular width the bunion will be in some discomfort or pain. The sole of the shoe has good tread and will do well in all kinds of wet to slick surfaces. The heel provides a good lift. I am sorry that this shoe does not fit because of the bunion but I will still recommend it for extensive wearing especially if you are on your feel most of the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Longevity & Quality After 3.5 years of daily wear including Costa Rica, Cinque Terre and closer-to-home hiking, I write this review after this morning's walk on ice and through puddles. While the shoes understandably show wear, they continue to fit and function well. The waterproofing is still working. I have a very wide forefoot and a narrow heel, but these shoes have fit well from the beginning. I decided to order a second pair this year while they remain available to replace the 2017 shoes when they wear out, but so far the new ones are still in the box. This shoe has exceeded my expectations in quality and longevity based on the previous brand of shoes I was wearing.
