      Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy material and construction I have always trusted LLBean for the quality and usefulness of their products. But I guess three strikes and I'm out. We have purchased three dog bed inserts of various sizes and shapes over the years. One arrived with the stitches torn right out of the box (LLBean promptly replaced it), the next immediately"popped" upon being sat on by my 60 pound lab (I have been living with it), and this last one exploded as I tried washing in the tub. I realize it is spot clean only, but dogs get sick sometimes and a more thorough soaking is necessary. The nylon material is very delicate and the stitches EASILY come undone. I will not make this mistake again.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best insert for the best bed! We have had L. L. Bean dog beds for years and they are enjoyed very much by our dogs. They are easy to wash and come out of the dryer fluffy. You may need to do some rearranging of the stuffing depending on the size of your dryer but I love the fact I can wash both!!! Finding a bed that you can wash both the cover and the insert is not easy to find. We currently have four beds around our home for our dogs. One of the beds has the bolsters and is used by our Sheperd mix at night in our bedroom. The others are in the study and family room (2). When we need a new bed, covers, or inserts L. L. Bean is our go to for dog beds!!!

      Rated 1 out of 5 by from Qualitiy dropped over time In 2017 bought the third insert for denim cover (bought around 2008) but it was different design than prior two. The insert cushion now has a deep pit between the bolstered edge and middle section, it doesne't sit right, my dog's back legs stuck out in weird postions, and he seemed to only sleep on one end where the fill was a little more even. Other reviews complained of this. Thought it would level out, after 9 months no ohange and the fill really flattenned out. Preference is for a bed with bolstered edges but returned it and we are trying the memory foam insert, which is non-bolstered. This replacement insert is overpriced - flattens out too quickly and distribution of fill is out of wack.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU GET WATER PROOF LINER My recommendation is based on purchasing a waterproof liner with it. I would rate it as 0 stars without a liner. We purchased the rectangular large dog bed a few years ago. Our golden retrievers love it.6 months ago, we got a new golden retriever puppy. Unfortunately, he had an accident on the bed that ruined the mattress which was not waterproofed. The liquid went through the whole bed and onto the floor. We had to get another mattress pad. We also purchased the waterproof liner at the same time. Do not buy a dog bed unless you also purchase the waterproof liner if you have a young dog

      Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not overly impressed I bought the mattress insert a little less than 2 years ago for my golden retriever and a little while after purchased the fleece cover. For as expensive as this bed was and coming from L.L. Bean, I expected much better quality. The bed is now quite flat. My dog would go to sleep on it when we first go to bed, but that never lasted and he would end up on our bed. Recently bought two other dog beds (both significantly cheaper) and they are MUCH better quality than the Bean bed. My dog will stay on these other beds all night long which never happened with the Bean bed.

      Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mattress Insert replacement poor quality I bought the replacement mattress insert and am not happy with the quality. I purchased the premium denim dog bed set 4 years ago and I felt it was time to replace the mattress insert. The quality of the replacement is nothing like the original. The new mattress insert is thinner and poorly made. There is a lot of material bunched up in one end and almost nothing on the other end. My dog who loved the original rarely would sleep on the new one. I finally went to the local fabric store and purchased a foam pad and put it in with the mattress insert.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and perfect fit The cover from our first L.L. Bean dog bed (size large) still looks new after 6 years of constant use by an 80 pound Goldendoodle. When we added a second doodle to the family and bought a new bed, I realized how flat the "mattress" from the first bed had become. Not wanting our older dog to feel shortchanged, I bought a new insert for his bed. It fit beautifully into the 6-year-old cover and made it seem like a brand new bed. (In fact, he claimed the new mattress before I could even get the cover on it!) Both dogs act like their beds are the best spots in the house. My doodles and I send our appreciation to L.L. Bean! The cover and the insert are well-made and help keep the dogs content to be on the floor instead of on MY bed!

      Rated 1 out of 5 by from first time Have ordered this same bed for all four of my yellow Labs - over the last many years. Have always been totally satisfied until this last shipment which I had to send back because it was defective. This is the first of about 10 that was not 5 star. My guess the packer at the vendor ( LL Bean uses) didn't even look at the product prior to boxing and shipping. Doubt it was LL Beans fault. LL made it correct with a phone call. Do buy this bed and cover. 40 years of buying dog beds tells me it's the best on the market.
