Rated 4 out of 5 by from needs a 2 way zipper to be 5 stars Have been crabbing about this for years to LL Bean to no avail .. this is an excellent field coat that fits perfectly (size large for my 5' 10" 177# 43" chest frame) that only needs a 2 way zipper top be 5 stars .. making this change could not possibly add more than $2 to the cost of the coat and would make it useful instead of useless sitting in a tree stand or driving the pickup to the hunt and being able to open the zipper at the bottom a couple of inches to be more comfortable sitting down .. for an outdoor outfit such as LL Bean to have this be a forehead slap moment is really unbelievable .. get it fixed, will ya' guys?.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Parka I am satisfied with this purchase. Yes the sizes run larger but this was designed as a hunting jacket so it needs to be bigger for layering. If you are just wearing around town then get a size smaller. I bought mine in in Loden and it looks great, good enough to wear to work without looking out of place. I wore it yesterday with a scarf and dress clothes underneath in 10°F with wind and it was plenty warm. With proper layering you can wear it in just about any temperature. I am a hunter who hunts in the frigid Adirondacks and although this would be plenty warm, I think it looks too good for hunting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's simply perfect I balked at buying this because of the price, but after wearing it for the past three months, I am so glad I bought it I actually came back to the LL Bean site to write a review. It is warm, extremely comfortable and provides all the protection from the elements I'm looking for, which is mostly stomping around in the rain and snow. The pockets are oversized so lots of room for anything you might put in there. The front pockets hold a full mug of coffee - very nice. The zipper works better than any zipper I have used before - it rugged yet slides up and down like a well-oiled machine. I can't believe I waited so long to buy this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice coat I have wanted one of these coats and finally ordered one when bean had a sale. I run AKC large pack trialing beagles in NH in a 60 acre training pen all winter long and am out in the woods for hours at a time. This coat with proper layering underneath is just the ticket to remain comfortable. I am 5'10" 178lbs 42-44 chest, 34" waist with a aging but athletic build and the Regular Large works perfect for me. The sleeves come to a nice overlap of the base of my hand, which I like, especially in cold weather. All the pockets and the drawstring waist work for me as well. I agree with reviewers that say a two-way zipper would be nice but it is not a deal breaker. Very warm and well made!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Jacket, but Huge This jacket is HUGE. I first searched the site for a Men's Maine Guide jacket , when it came up I clicked on Lg and ordered. I later checked my order and realized the site had given me a women's jacket. I reordered making sure the jacket was a Men's large. When it arrived it was huge. I returned the jacket and ordered the same Men's Main Guide jacket in Medium. When it arrived it was huge. I have returned jacket #3 and ordered a Men's small. My son hasn't worn a small in any jacket in 15 years and has some XL jackets. Obviously, we like the jacket and hope this one fits. Sizing reviews were not available on the jacket site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My coat for winter on Lake Ontario I have owned all kinds of winter coats but I was still always cold during my Rochester, NY winters along Lake Ontario. I decided to give this coat a try and I love it. I do not wear this coat to drive to work or go shopping because it is simply too warm to wear inside a heated car or store. This is the coat I wear when I spent hours outdoors in single digit temps with a breeze coming off the lake. I have the red black plaid large tall size and it fits perfectly. I am going on my 3rd winter with this coat and it feels very well made. So far, I have found nothing to dislike about this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Winner! Back in December 2016, I bought my first Maine Guide Wool Jacket/Parka. It was in red and black check and was bought for deer hunting in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. What a great jacket!!!!! After wearing it for it's intended purpose, and since I use my hunting gear for only hunting, I decided I HAD to have a second jacket for daily winter use here in Southern Michigan. Just received my second Maine Guide Wool Jacket in Loden/Dark Green, and it too is terrific. Can't say enough about how pleased I am with this jacket. As with the first one I ordered, the upper chest pockets are partially sown shut, but can be opened very easily, if carefully..........

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great winter coat! I've always loved the traditional north woods wool! Throw on your wool parka and pants and boots (bean boots!) and head out in search of your late season buck! Not only does the wool do the trick of keeping you warm (very warm with the added primaloft!) but it stays warm when wet and sheds light rain and snow. The styling is great, traditional and looks just as good in the woods dragging a deer as it does on a cold winter walk to the bar! Love it and hope to get many years out of it! Yes, it does run a bit large. I normally wear a large due to my arm length and the medium fit me perfectly!
