Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very warm but surprised by down smell I just purchased this coat in red. The coat is almost identical to the one I purchased 13 years ago that I needed to replace. I love the coat because it is very warm, it has many zippered pockets, the hood is removable and it is boxy so can fit large sweaters underneath if very cold. However, the down has changed to TEK. The coat had a slight smell so I washed it. When the coat was wet, the smell was terrible which I have never had in a down coat before. Now that the coat is dry, the smell has mostly gone away so hopeful it will be completely gone with airing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmest parka for winter dog walks Warm and waterproof andd true to the description. This is my second one, I had my original Baxter State parka for many years until I actually wore it out! I love the “tweedy” blue color. Fit is big enough to wear a layer or two underneath. A bit stiff at first but softens up with use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kennebunker While the jacket is warm, it does shed feathers on my sweaters/sweatshirts. The zipper works fine but the upper sleeves are a bit snug - I don't have large arms. The fur trim on the hood looks a bit ratty

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Baxter State Parka Women's Regular I needed outerwear that keeps me warm at the same time repels water, and that's what this coat does. The thing that surprised me is how heavy this coat is! Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice warm coat, sizing runs big. Good coat, very warm. I bought it to replace the exact same one (same exact style name) I've had for approximately 20 years. The only issue is that the sizing has changed and it runs much larger than previous version. I had to order down a size and it is still slightly roomier than my old one, however two sizes down was a bit too small.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice parka, bit of an odd liner. I moved from a very warm climate in the deep South to the Northeast, so I wanted a good heavy down parka that would keep me warm, and this fits the bill. I walk my dog a lot so the weather resistant shell is a really big plus. I also like the length; it's not too short. What I don't like about the jacket are the sleeves on the liner layer, which are inexplicably short. It's almost as if the liner was designed with 3/4 length sleeves, and it falls in a very uncomfortable way when you wear a blouse or a sweater with regular long sleeves. The sleeves of the parka shell are a normal and appropriate length, so I don't understand the issue with the liner.
