Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice I got this for two reasons. The first to increase my sweater repertoire with something a bit different. The second to wear in my freezing cold office in the summer to replace the moth eaten cardigan used for that purpose for several years. It is really nice quality and serves the purpose well. My only complaint is that the collar is a bit stiff and taller than my shirt collar and so has a bit of a Star Trek look and slight irritation of the neck. The pics on the online catalogue show the guys collar rising above the collar of the sweater, which is what I would have wanted, but that is not the case and with about a nearly 2 inch collar does not seem possible. Perhaps it will soften-up and relax a bit over time. But, really a high quality piece.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterfowl Sweater Vest Hit the Mark w/ Dad! I purchased the Waterfolw Sweater Vest as a Christmas gift for my 81 year old father. We live in Los Angeles, and though we don't have snow - it does get cold. The vest is a perfect option for him, and fits nicely over a long sleeved shirt. Very casual - but clean looking, great quality! I purchased the navy, and was pleasantly surprised by the nice yarn color against the brown ultra suede color and zipper trim. The only dig is that the collar is a bit stiff and bothers him, so he turns it down so it isn't rubbing against his neck. Hopefully, with wear, it will soften up a bit. All-in-all, I'm happy with the selection - though I felt the item was priced a bit high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Made Sweater Vest Just recently purchased my third Waterfowl Sweater Vest. The quality of this most recent purchase is on par with my older ones from a few years ago. I like the versatility of being able to wear it alone or under a coat depending on the level of chill in the air. The collar is a little stiff at first, but will loosen up with use, and I have no problems with the zipper on mine as some other reviews have reported. These vests along with my Waterfowl Sweaters are my main go to's for winter wear here in Eastern North Carolina. Try one, I'm sure you'll like it as much as I do mine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the same I have several of these and I ordered a new one in March as they were out of stock. So seems the delay was that they bought from another mfg. and Now the Size/Fit is way off from the others. I bought Xl and it is now too small and too short compared to others which were very good fit. So buy bigger than you need or hopefully, they will go back to old vendor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterfowl Sweater Vest I was happy to see LL had this item. Nice fit & finish and a pleasant change from the polar fleece that I seem to wrap myself in when the mercury drops. The sweater features a strong zipper, generous handwarmer pockets and sharp looking suede collar. The only down side is that after only 2 wearings pilling has started on the lower front. This happened to the last LL Sweater Vest I purchased as well / different model. I only hope (as the other model) that after one season that it is not relegated to knocking about the house or with jeans only. Great product with the exception of the pilling problem. Even with the pilling I will most likely add one more to my personal inventory without expectations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Wool, Bad Zipper Bought the XL Cinder in 11/2015. Initially loved this vest but quality problems have been building. 1. The vest pills very badly. Pilling is a sign of poor quality, short fiber, loosely woven wool. Due to its long fibers, tightly woven Merino wool is supposed to be a low pilling wool. I have some vintage Merino wool sweaters from the 1960's and they have never pilled. 2. The vest I got is not 100% wool. In addition to pilling badly, small pieces of some thin plastic material have been working their way out of the knit. When this started to happen, I went over the vest very closely with a light and pulled out at least 30 of these thin plastic pieces. I've never seen anything like this. Very weird. 3. The zipper is impossible. The contrast material is sewn too close to the bottom edge of the zipper, making it almost impossible to insert the bottom pin into the slider. 4. Collar is poorly designed. It doesn't lay flat and it is too tall. Very disappointed. This is the second item I have purchased recently from LLBean with serious quality issues. I would not recommend this vest to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad Zipper Bought in 2015. Zipper has become very difficult to start. I've also found the zippers on 3 other LL Bean products purchased over the last few years (two polar-tech jackets and a vest) have started to malfunction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waterfowl Sweater Vest During the winter months, my wife and I have different ideas as to just what is a comfortable temperature to maintain in the house. She likes the thermostat set a bit cooler that I like. Now, when I wear my Waterfowl Sweater Vest around the house, we are both happy. I've even taken to wearing it while driving on longer road trips. It certainly beats wearing a heavier coat for extended periods of time. (Even if the coat is an LL Bean coat)
