Rated 2 out of 5 by Hermitsunite from I expected to love these. I didn't. First, I'll share that the Pathfinder Pants are probably my favorite pants to wear. They are so comfortable and I love the fact that the pockets have Velcro closures instead of buttons. So I expected to love these shorts. They felt true-to-size (I ordered a 33--the same size I wear in Pathfinder pants) and comfortable. However, these shorts flare out significantly in the legs. It was as if the waist fit but the wide legs were meant for someone much much bigger than I. The wide legs reminded me of photos of my Mom in huge, poofy camp shorts back in the late 1940s. Definitely not a flattering style on me, so I'll be returning them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by riocasa from Great Shorts I buy these shorts to work in, as I own a trekking company in Italy. They wear great and look good too, but I have to complain about the color blue and dark brown. I had 2 pair of these colors before and they were a problem. I just brought another pair of blue, only to find out that these also do not hold the color and look beat after 2 washings. The green, gold & white are great and wear very good, I wear these shorts everyday. I have about 10 pair and will most likely send back these two blue and dark brown ones. This is the only draw back in these shorts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by swick from real nice shorts These might be the nicest short pants I've ever owned. The material is great, and the fit and finish can't be beat. I bought them in stone, and have ordered another pair in dark khaki. Beautiful thing about them is, they don't look like cargo shorts--altho they are just about as useful--you can wear these anywhere, and you will look good and be comfortable, too. Thumbs up, Bean. I'd give them 5 stars if Bean could remove the annoying velcro closures on the rear pockets. I don't like fighting with the pocket just to get at my wallet. But covering the velcro patch with a small moleskin patch has eliminated the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by arcstar from Great shorts - avoid the "Canyon Khaki" color I ordered a pair of these to replace some very old hiking shorts. These are just excellent all-round outdoors/hiking shorts. The stone colour is as shown. The Canyon Khaki is very yellow in person - I returned and will order a second pair of the stone colour instead. What's really nice about the front pockets is that they do not come all the way down the front of the shorts leg so that items in the front pocket do not bounce against one's leg when walking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nator from Cargo pockets won't hold a smartphone anymore I have a number of pathfinder shorts and have always found them to be durable and fit well. When the latest order arrived, I found that they have changed the size of the cargo pockets so that my phone won't fit in them anymore. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4. I checked my old shorts and it fit in all of them, just not the new ones. When the weather gets nice, I live in shorts and t-shirts and not having a good place to hold my phone in these shorts limits their utility. Won't be buying any more of this style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LBA7895 from So Good I Have Worn Them To Death I bought a pair of these shorts a few years ago, and like them so much I have literally worn them to death. The hems are frayed so much my wife won't let me wear them outside our house; but I just cut off the loose threads and ignore her. We're headed out West for a kayaking trip and I am about to buy a new pair, so I can give my beloved old pair the decent burial they deserve for service "above and beyond". You can't go wrong with these shorts!

Rated 1 out of 5 by DCVT from Poor Quality I was very surprised when these shorts started to fall apart after a couple of washings, The Material started to get small holes. At first I thought I had caught them on something but then noticed several more. I had them patched and started to use them for working around the yard. After a couple of more washings the Velcro started to pull off the pockets. Not the usual quality I have come to expect from LL Bean. Time for the rag bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by denbury from wear them all summer but color bleached out I have owned a pair of 7" inseam Pathfinder shorts since 2010. They have performed very well in all but one way. Because I sweat a lot when working in the garden, I have found that the carbon navy color mine came in has bleached. The front of mine are now almost purple. And, when checking whether they are still sold, I was surprised to see that in almost exactly 4 years the price has increased 60% from the $24.50 I paid.
