    Why We Love It

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still good, but not the same quality... I am a die hard Bean fan and customer. These shirts are the most comfortable I have ever worn which is why they are my favorite but the quality has gone down in recent years i.e. stitching is poor. ( Threads hanging from new shirt/s ) I also disagree with the stain resistant proclamation attached to this item as I have been wearing theses shirts for years and find them unremarkable pertaining to them being more resistant to stains than any other shirt on the market. L.L. Bean items are 100 % guaranteed but I would still like them to get a better handle on controlling the quality of the items that are being sold year after year as I sometimes don't send the items back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from carefree henley T in a Tall Purchased the henley T in a Medium Tall for my 5'11'' 175 lb. frame. Love the extra inches in length... even longer than a Large regular so stays tucked in much better. Not so happy with the short sleeves...would expect at least a full inch extra than a regular but that's not the case here. Also be aware the area behind the neck is the only place that is taped...the shoulders and the collar out to the buttons/holes are NOT taped. I would expect the full neck and shoulders to be taped at this price point. The stitching esp. at the bottom of the Henley opening is a bit sloppy. All together a good product but w/several flaws that need correcting.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terribly disappointed in an ol' favorite This review is a bit overdue but I just had to speak out. The LL Bean Henley use to be my favorite t-shirt. Unfortunately, the relatively new un-shrinkable, stain-resistant fabric is also un-breathable. Not only won't it let water, coffee, food, etc. in, it won't let perspiration out! Cotton is supposed to breath but these shirts don't. I tried several times to wear them on warm-to-hot days and it felt like wearing a plastic bag which made the warm days unbearable. LL Bean took all three back (thank you) but how can I possibly recommend them? If you're human and insist on purchasing these shirts, stay in the air conditioning. In the meanwhile, c'mon LL Bean-ers, try wearing these things to see for yourself and then go back to the old fabric.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They're actually uncomfortable on hot days! After my original Henley wore out (over several years), I ordered three in different colors. Unfortunately, the fabric is thinner, as noted by several others, and flimsier. But - even more important - they're treated to be stain resistant with a chemical that actually makes them water-proof. So what, you ask? Try wearing them on a hot day and you'll find they don't breathe! Perspiration becomes trapped and it's like wearing a plastic bag. To be sure I wasn't over-reacting, I took all three and dripped water on them. Sure enough, it beads and runs off. Back they went. Really frustrating because I used to love these shirts. Hey - I have an idea. Have the person who's in charge of product development wear these on a very warm day. You know, run around and then report results to the people who think this treatment is a good idea.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfotable, nice fitting shirt. Over the years I have purchased many of these shirts and love them. I currently own 10 shirts in the short sleeve version and the same number in the long sleeve version. I wear these shirts everyday. Just recently I ordered 2 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve replacement shirts. I have to say I am disappointed in these new shirts. The fabric of the new shirts is much lighter weight than the others that I have purchased in the past. Due to the lighter weight fabric the long sleeve shirt is no where near as warm as my old ones. LL Bean needs to go back the original heavier weight fabric.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not wick perspiration On a hot day or when the sweat begins to run, the stain-resist treatment apparently prevents the sweat from wicking easily through the material. Moisture tends to spread over the inside of the shirt, reducing airflow through the material, and thereby sharply reducing the normal cooling effect of perspiration. The inner moisture build-up becomes very uncomfortable shortly after moving into an air-conditioned space. This kind of material looks and feels great, but it is not practical on a hot day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I wanted 1. The shirt was a different color than what it looked like on-line. I thought (and wished) it would be a gray-ish blue or a blue-ish gray, but it turned out to be only gray -- much like a standard-issue gray shirt they issue you in a high school or college physical education [PE] class. 2. The shirt was too thin. I would have thought the shirt would have been thicker, but it seems I paid nearly $20 for nothing more than a PE shirt. 3. Disappointed; especially as this was my first on-line venture with L.L. Bean.
