Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the Rugged Trouser I had Expected The outer fabric seems somewhat lightweight to me and certainly not as wind resistant as one would expect of an insulated hiking pant. Additionally the outer fabric "finish" and "hand" qualities do not hold up well to a full day of wearing. The fabric sags and bags after just a couple of hours of wear. The waist band stretches and the knees bag quite easily. Also the waffle weave lining material does not seem effective as an insulation material nor as a wind resistant layer. These performance characteristics which I have observed leave me with the impression that these are not very substantial hiking pants perhaps better suited for urban adventurers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice pants, warm, not hot I've hiked in these twice now, because it's starting to get cooler in Northern Arizona (Sedona Area). We started the first day in 47F temps @ 7:00 and did a fairly rigorous climb up the side of a canyon to a natural arch, back down and finished the trail. It was about 70F when we finished. The 2nd hike started at 6:30 and 38F temp. The first .68 miles of the hike was all up hill, a 500ft elevation gain. We hiked around the entire top of the mesa and then back down. A 2.9 mile hike over 2.5 hours. Both hikes had brush, rocks, cacti, dirt, etc. These pants have held up well and I haven't been hot/uncomfortable in them. I'm looking forward to using them more

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good, pretty warm, flexible I have the zip-off kind for the summer. They are comfortable, light enough to wear in summer, and dry quickly (but not waterproof in the least). This style has got a lot of the same features - flexible, comfortable, and adds the fleece for a pretty decent amount of warmth, without a lot of bulk. I would say they are slightly warmer than the summer pant with long underwear, but not bulky and wouldn't replace snow pants if it's that cold. They are a little pricey in my opinion, but since I own 3 zip-off pair and 2 of the fleece-lined, the price didn't deter me. I wish they had some water resistance, and that would be the biggest down-side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cold Weather Pant. I love my lined Cresta Hiking pants and just bought a second pair. I’m a female, but I purchased Men’s pants because of the two leg pockets that I use for my wallet and my cell phone. I checked out the women’s Lined Cresta hikers in the store, and the single leg pocket was Too Small for any ”Smartphone”, but might work to carry a Flip Phone. Thanks LLBean for offering a 29” inseam! The pants fit perfectly!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable but runs large Although the label stated 34” waist I measured it at 36”, and the legs were correspondingly too baggy. I risked going down to a 33”, made the exchange, and that did the trick. The only 33” waist in my wardrobe! Hiked a few miles up a mountain trail in 28 degree light snow and was surprised at how a light pant with its light fleece liner was able to keep me at the perfect temperature both up and downhill. Good movement, no sweatiness or chill, the flexibility of the fabric was great on steeps. Likely will buy another color

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pockets, Pockets! Before retiring I used my suit coat to carry cellphone, keys, glasses, calendar, etc. Since then I have relied on these Cresta pants, both lined and unlined (have 2 pairs of each) because they have pockets that are the perfect size and placement, particularly for the cellphone. I wear them for everything from hiking to church - they are that versatile in looks and utility. Way more functional than my old khakis. My only misgiving is size. I cinch my belt at size 33, and have previously ordered that size in these pants. Seemed a bit big, but on my last order I thought I'd take a chance on 33 again because the catalog showed them running true to size. When my new lined pants came, again biggish. So I ran a tape measure around the waist from snap to snap, and use enough, the measure was 35 inches. I got the same result when I went back to measure the previous pants. I can fix that by cinching my belt tighter, and the pants don't look baggy, so I can live with it. But I can't agree that the advertised size runs true.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Men's Cresta Hiking Pants, Fleece-Lined As an avid hiker and person out snowshoeing on the Canadian border of New York State I have to deal with varying weather. These pants perform wonderfully for snowshoeing at temperatures from 10-25 degrees F. They are soft and warm on the inside and provide great resistance to absorbing moisture from the snow and wet on the outside. They have deep and comfortable pockets which open and close easily. The pants also are good looking and can be used for some casual events if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cresta Lined Pants I've only had them for about a month. I bought them for fall/winter yard work so I don't have to bother with long johns under jeans/etc. I've done work in 50 degree weather and they're toasty. Maybe even too warm at that temp if you're active. The fit is on the snugger side because of the lining, but I wouldn't go a size up. I think I could get long johns under them if needed. On their own, they're comfortable. There's a bit of stretch and the knees allow a ton of flexibility. They're surprisingly stylish too. They're pricey. Time will tell if they're durable enough to be worth it, but I like them so far.
