Rated 3 out of 5 by DRECharlotte from 'Slightly fitted' means ... too small I liked the idea of the StormFleece, but the L.L. Bean site had little information and only two reviews on this new product. So I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, the large size didn't fit, it was just too tight. The description said it is 'slightly fitted' and I haven't had a problem in the past with LL Bean products of that type. But this didn't work for me. The outer fabric is stretchy, but not very soft. I'd guess this jacked would provide medium warmth, not really a winter jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WesternMassOutdoors from Great stretch fleece I had the previous generation of this jacket and my in-laws got me a new one last Christmas. After a year of use I can say this is a great jacket. In milder winter days and spring and fall it is my wardrobe staple. Significantly lighter then the previous generation and it does an admirable (but not perfect) job blocking wind and it can save you from cold November rain (though not water proof). 4-stars is for sizing- Slightly fitted is significantly smaller than traditional sizing, I typically get llbean in a large tall torso but the xlarge tall is a perfect fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jaybird from Great go-to jacket Have had this for about three months now and it's become my go-to jacket this fall and winter. Love the extra sleeve and torso length in the Tall size, fits great! It is a bit thin for temps below 30 without a mid layer underneath. Love the fleece lining, but as some reviewers have mentioned it does tend to be "sticky" if you have fleece under it. Love the fact LL Bean makes a tall size. Does a good job in the windproof area and a great hood that is easy to cinch down with gloves on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 1SatisfiedCustomer from Excellent jacket I bought this jacket to wear at work, I wanted something that will keep me warm, yet allow me to move freely without the bulk of the heavier jackets. My work has no idea what it means to turn the heat on, so I need a jacket that will keep me warm and this one definitely does. I really love that the sleeves have elastic cuffs that actually stay in place without moving. I never wear any shirt or light weight jacket with the sleeves down, I always have them just below my elbows, and in my job I am moving constantly for 8 straight hours, and these sleeves will not move. Sometimes I have to go into a freezer unit and the hood does a great job of keeping the cold air directly off of my head for the short time that I’m in there doing what I have to do. I will most likely buy another one of these jackets for everyday use outside of my work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LJHeartland from Great Product if you are trim fit and travel light This quality product replaces my literally decades old windstopper fleece which has served me well on every trip! I loved the generously fitting in sleeves, trunk/waist and neck area. Dashing into a store in the rain and covering the package inside my coat out the way out if it was raining was legendary with the family. This product is just a bit snug/slightly fitted and designed for those who have model figures. So I recommend this great product for purchase only if you Body Mass Index meets Federal Guidelines for "Normal" or thinner and you never use the pockets for things like water bottles or other gear like cameras or layer with thick sweatshirts or use it for that quick dash in the rain etc. Its not tight but snug everywhere...sleeves neck and trunk/waist. After a several wearings I find it a great replacement in its own right - its functions well - proof tested in storms but now I carry a rain proof day pack for all the things I would put into my old jacket and for dashing into stores. Am I the only one one who is looking for LL Bean quality clothing that is not for model thin builds?

Rated 4 out of 5 by twodonks from Nice jacket I like this jacket quite a bit, fits great, well made, nice design details. My only issue with it is that the sleeves are fuzzy fleece, and if you wear it over fleece or flannel, your cuffs end up at your elbows. So I now remember to hold my cuffs and all is well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DRECharlotte from Updated review: Went with XL I tried this jacket earlier in my normal size, large, and it was too small. But after searching around for a hooded fleece jacket that could block the wind, I couldn't find other alternatives, so I tried again with an XL. It fits pretty well, roomy enough to have extra layers underneath. The sleeves are long, but have elastic at the ends, and that works well to pull down over gloves. This is a light-ish jacket and the fleece covers only the arms, hood and shoulders, but the entire jacket is lined. It is appropriate down to about 30 degrees, as a top layer with warmth underneath. I walked a few miles in pouring rain and wind, and eventually the rain will soak into the fabric but I didn't get wet underneath. It is definitely not rain-proof, but rain resistant. It is not wind proof, but wind resistant. The hood is a technical design and will close up around your face when the jacket is zipped all the way up. That would help keep you warm. So to sum up: It is a light jacket with a full zipper, so it could be worn on warm days, into the 50s, with the jacket open and the hood down. With some warm layers underneath, it could be worn on a snowy 30-degree day, with the hood up and jacket zipped. I live in the South, where typical winter days are in the 40s or low 50s, so this will be my primary winter jacket.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SXSW from Very light weight This was a Christmas present. The coat more of a shell than a coat to provide warmth. If the temp drops you have to uses layers for warmth. The fleece lining is minimal. There is not enough fleece to make it warm and comfortable even on a cool day. If the pockets are unzipped and your hands are not in them then they are big open holes to let cold air in. The pockets are lined with a mesh not with the super thin fleece of the rest of the coat. It does block wind with the exception of the pockets when unzipped. Without layers of clothes underneath the cold of the wind get through the coat when the wind is blowing.I've worn it in light rain and it does a good job of keeping the water out. There are many adjustments so it can be drawn tight to help block the wind.
