Rated 5 out of 5 by legoo from Perfect spring/fall jacket! Just received this jacket and had reservations about the fit. I weigh 146#, am 5'6" and usually take a L.L. Bean large because my chest is 42". I got the petite large and this fit me perfectly! There was a complaint that it was tight across the shoulders, but not for me. It's roomy enough for a shirt and light sweater. Drawstring waist is flattering. The actual sleeve length from shoulder to cuff edge is just under 24"--don't have to turn the cuffs up like a lot of jackets. Haven't washed it yet, but will use cold water and low heat on dryer. I can see me getting a lot of use out of this jacket. Thank you again, L.L. Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greenforestgirl from Love the side seam pockets Very pleased with this jacket. Was pleasantly surprised by the two side seam pockets which are not visible in the photo. Not many reviewers have mentioned them. They lie underneath the cargo pockets and are more ergonomic because when I want to keep my hands warm, my arms and wrists maintain a more relaxed position when sliding into the pocket instead of being bent in a vertical angle going into a cargo pocket. I ordered a Petite Small and it feels fine with a Signature Merino Crewneck Sweater underneath. The fabric is strong and substantial but makes the jacket a tad heavy, but that is to be expected with 97% cotton. All in all, really like the comfort and style of this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by melsbells from Lightweight for warm nights I spent several months looking for lightweight utility/military-type jackets that I could put patches on. I live in Los Angeles, and wanted something lighter than a leather jacket for running errands on "brisk" days. This definitely fits the bill - it is unlined, and the fabric is a medium-weight cotton. I wouldn't call it warm at 60 degrees, and in LA's winter months I'm layering heavier shirts under it. The pockets are my favorite things, and I usually keep them un-snapped for easy access. It packs up really nicely and doesn't wrinkle much. I imagine this would be a handy traveling jacket in warmer climates.

Rated 3 out of 5 by OldBeanShopper2 from Nice fabric, odd fit I like the style, the fabric and the construction/sewing quality. BUT...the sizing is off. I'm usually a Bean size 14. The size Large in this jacket is spot on or a bit loose in the waist and hips, but so tight in the shoulders and arms that I cannot move my arms, even when wearing just a tank top. Going up a size would make the lower half much too loose and might still not leave enough room in the shoulders to layer a sweater. I bought two in different colors, thinking they looked perfect for casual outings and birding, but both are going back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by yourmajesty from okay but not great 3 stars. i deducted a star for each of the following reasons. 1, shoulders were a snug fit. 2, the pink colour is not as shown online, too much brown/ orange in the mix. it wasn't a flattering look for me. 5'6", straight body shape. 175 pounds. i got the xl but it's strangely snug across my shoulders for an xl. never have i had an xl Bean garment too snug. this one is going to be returned. maybe someone else would like it. on the positive side, the fabric is nice (not too heavy or light) and it is well constructed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MTLVT from Not roomy enough in shoulders for a utility jacket The fabric is lovely and the style really cute. But while I am a pretty much a perfect 6 petite, I had to go up to a medium size in order to put my arms out in front of me comfortably. Years ago L.L. Bean stopped putting any pleats in the shoulder yokes of shirts and jackets, and every since I have had a problem with not enough freedom of movement. Fine for standing at attention like a soldier, but not fine even for driving a car. And I have narrow shoulders-- I can't imagine what other people do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by almcd23 from The Perfect Jacket for the West Coast I live in Berkeley which can often have days ranging from 45 - 75 degrees and had been searching for a quality lightweight jacket for ages. This jacket is the perfect outer layer for chilly mornings without feeling like you're suffocating by noon! It also has a flattering fit and plenty of pockets so for dog walks/store runs/etc. I don't have to worry about bringing a bag. I'm 5'3"/135 lbs with an athletic build, and the small is a great fit. I can wear it comfortably over a tshirt but still have room underneath for a flannel on extra chilly days. It's also long enough to wear with leggings which is a huge bonus!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TXLLBeanShopper from Wonderful lightweight jacket I was looking for a stylish lightweight jacket to take on a trip. I live in Texas where lightweight jackets are the most versatile. This one fits the bill perfectly. I didn’t want it to be too tight, the large is just roomy enough for a light layering if needed and isn’t tight around the shoulders as some things are for me. For my weight/height I think I could have gotten the medium and it would’ve been a more fitted look. It is super soft and very classic, I know I will enjoy it for a long time. Very well made too. I’ve gotten compliments every time I’ve worn it already! Love it!
