Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be I bought two of LL Bean's rugby shirts a little over a decade ago and they were exactly what I've always expected of the brand. Very tightly woven fabric and a built-to-last feel. These are NOT the same rugbys. Hanging on white plastic coat hangers, you can actually see the white coat hanger through the shirt in the shoulders. These really are more akin to t-shirts with collars than rugby shirts. I'm disappointed with the overall decline of LL Bean's clothing line over the last 10 or so years. It's unfortunate to see this sort of corner-cutting in what used to be such a trusted brand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as substantial as the previous version I bought three of these Rugby shirts about five years ago and was very happy with them. I bought two more in January, 2017. The current material weight is MUCH lighter than the older version. Holding a new one in one hand and an older one in the other hand and the weight difference is very apparent. After washing there doesn't appear to be any significant shrinkage. AFA recommending this item to a friend; get it if you just want a lighter weight Rugby look-like shirt. I don't have any idea if this newer, lighter weight version will hold up as well as the original.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the CLASSIC Rugby Shirt Over the years i have ordered several Rugby Shirts from LL Bean. I love them for fall and winter wear. The material was a very heavy cotton and the shirts were generously sized. They were getting old so when I saw these shirts become available on the website I ordered 3 to replace my old ones. I was very disappointed when they arrived. These shirts are made of a much lighter weight cotton and rather than being generously sized I found them to be undersized. I spoke with customer service. They looked up my old orders. What I had ordered previously was The CLASSIC Rugby Shirt. Which was discontinued in 2012. I returned all 3 of the shirts i ordered. They just weren't up to snuff in my opinion. If LL Bean ever brings back the CLASSIC Rugby Shirt I'll order 3 of those! I hope they do bring them back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy rugby shirt I have purchased LL Bean rugby shirts in the past. They are always very comfortable and very well made...they last for years! Nothing has changed with the new ones. The fabric and construction of the shirt is of the highest quality. It washes well, and comes out of the dryer without wrinkling...and no shrinking. I can wear this shirt year-round. In fact, I prefer them to golf shirts. they protect your arms from the sun, the fabric let's you move, and it also soaks up perspiration which keeps you cooler. Don't change a thing. Just come out with more colors!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A colored polo and not a rugby shirt I still my last LL Bean rugby from 10 years ago and the 2017 version pales in comparison. It is more a striped polo and should be priced in that fashion. Not only is the material thin but it is not a loose comfortable cut like the old ones. I'm 6'2 240 and the XXL fits like an XLT in other LL Bean clothes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thinner than we expected but my husband loves it My husband and I were surprised to see how thin the material was compared to traditional weight/thickness of a "rugby" shirt. My husband wasn't sure if he was going to like it since we already had a not so nice surprise with Signature Slub Stripe Rugby. Well, after about 2 hours, he declared he loves it even though it's on a thin side. It fits just the way he expected. The color is very nice too. So, initial shock of material being thin aside, it's a 5 star according to the man who wore it all day long! He recommends it saying it's comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK, but... I wore rugby shirts a lot "back in the day" and always liked them, so I was glad to see them in the LL Bean store. I tried it on, the fit was fine, but the big tag sewn right into the front turned me off. Something discreet down at the hem, maybe. I didn't buy it for that reason. So, if you like big retailer name tags on the front of your clothes, go ahead. It's a nice shirt otherwise.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fit OK/Fabric Not So Much I find the quality and fit of this shirt to miss the LL Bean standard as other reviewers have mentioned in their feedback. This rugby shirt is not nearly as good as they used to be. The cut is not as generous. The fabric is not as heavy and seems to stretch out of shape easily. I was hoping that this shirt would be like a much older LL Bean Rugby shirt that I own but the quality is definitely not the same. What is most frustrating is the quality of the fabric used for this shirt. Even after a few washings, the fabric has lost its smooth feel and is beginning to form small pills. I would encourage others to purchase this shirt. However, if you have experienced the quality of previous LL Bean Rugby Shirts. You may be disappointed.
