Rated 5 out of 5 by Downhill from The Best Raingear I've Used I recently purchased the Tek 2 Raincoat and Pants for a Through Hike of the Long Trail in Vermont. They got a good workout. Most importantly they kept me dry even in the nastiest weather. You can get condensation on the inside when exerting, it seems unavoidable; but if you go through a cool down period after, the fabric will breathe and the moisture evaporates. The fit of the jacket is excellent with good coverage below the waist. Also the hood adjustment is good, so you can snug it to the degree you want. The material is rugged enough to stand up on the trail. I've had several other jackets... this is the best. I definitely recommend the Tek 2 Rain gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Postes from Good Colors, Quality, and Comfortable. I bought this jacket to toss into my backpack for daypacks, but ended up now wearing it as my primary rain jacket. I know many enjoy solid colors, but I like the two-colors schemes especially the orange/gray. It works great in the rain, probably the best rain jacket I ever used for rain protection. It's also very breathable. The only downside I found is that the hood feels a bit too large, and I've had bad experiences previously with this same liner featured on this jacket with other Bean rain jackets. I found they begin to deteriorate over time with use. This one hasn't yet, so I'm hoping it lasts a good long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BeanCustomerNC from Great coat I've owned three serious raincoats from Bean over the years; the Tek waterproofing works well (I haven't had serious rain in the new one yet, but it's done well in light rain), and the feature set is good. My only issue (and the reason for four stars rather than five) is that the coats keep getting shorter -- my first one was several inches longer than the later two, though I ordered a Tall in the Element, to squeeze out an extra inch or two. I really wish Bean had a longer option for these, between the relatively short ones and a longer raincoat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MaineOutdoorsGuy from Looks Great, Performance Lacking I bought this jacket about a year ago. I was happy with it for most of that time - it looks great and holds up well enough in light rain or snow. However, I recently brought the jacket as my primary waterproof layer for the W trek of Torres del Paine in Chilean Patagonia. I spent one full day hiking in the rain and, unfortunately, this jacket was unable to stand up to a true test of the elements. The material became waterlogged and I spent a good portion of the day wet. On dry days, it kept me warm enough, but did not breathe well. Given the relatively high price, this is one of the few pieces of Bean gear that I can't recommend, at least not for seriously inclement weather. On a side note, my wife wore a less expensive LL Bean rain jacket for the trek and it held up great (see photo).

Rated 5 out of 5 by BobSea from Sheds water like no other jacket! This is a fantastic, lightweight jacket that is very breathable and has a premium build quality. I just had a chance to try it out in some moderate rain here in Seattle and it sheds water wonderfully. The rain forms large beads on the jacket and then it just rolls right off. The Gore-Tex shell I was using previously didn't work nearly as well as this jacket. I'm 5'9", 155 lbs and the small size fit me the best. The jacket is still loose enough to fit a fleece and a sweater underneath for layering on cold days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Roberson from Disappointed I have always valued the quality of LL Bean so I was severely disappointed with the lack of protection from this jacket. I was on a rainy hiking trip and within an hour I was completely soaked, not due to persperitation although it was not very breathable either. Hopefully LL Bean will continue to improve on their product. However, I will not buy the TEK fabric apparel again and will stick with Gortex. Only redeeming quality was that it kept me warm while hiking in 38 degree and raining for 4 hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hikewithdogs from Stay dry I purchased this jacket as a second edition to my rain gear for backpacking, hiking or exercising the dogs. It is an excellent addition and I have had the opportunity to test my jacket in downpours, light rain and/or wind conditions with rain or snow. My jacket successfully passed all my tests. Therefore, I also conclude that it serves as a good windbreaker on a sunny day, too relative to temperature and humidity. Consequently, I highly recommend it. In addition, my jacket is comfortable to wear because it allows for the evaporation of body heat and sweat or moisture while keeping the inner layer next to my baselayer reasonably dry. Finally, I found my jacket to be an excellent addition to the "S" or "E" in the WISE SYSTEM which is wicking, insulation, shelter or extra.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Activeallday from Waterproof Boston Marathon 2018 Gratitude: Thank you LL Bean! You saved my marathoner husband from hypothermia running the Boston Marathon 2018! As the weather report turned ominous I frantically searched for a light waterproof jacket that wouldn't make that annoying swish swish sound as he ran. Found it at Pop Up LL Bean store on the plaza across from the Back Bay Station! Pop Up store was outside at a great location for out of towners in for the marathon. Initially bought size medium. However, he is 5'8" 154 lbs and wanted a tighter running fit and they did the exchange for a SMALL seamlessly.
