New merino sweater not as good as the original.
I have a previous Bean merino sweater, but it now has holey elbows so had to be replaced. The first patches worked, but then the elbows wore out again. It is still preferable to the new model! At least the replacement is wool, not polyester. I prefer the fuzzier older sweater, frankly.

too early to tell
The best thing I can say for certain is that it fits and it looks mighty fine. I have not had an occasion to wear it, however at this point. Knowing the quality of LL Bean… I have no fears.
