Rated 5 out of 5 by Florida09 from Great Classic Skirt I'm what you might call a "mature" lady, I like to look smart and stylish and this skirt does that for me. I bought two of these skirts, one in Heritage Stone and one in Khaki. I purchased 14 Reg and the fit is perfect on me. The waist is very forgiving and is not bulky and the length is 21 1/2" from the bottom of the waist band, comes to just below the knee which is how I like my skirts to fit. They are not pencil cut, but are cut straight - very slimming. I usually purchase my clothing from high end online stores, but I am more than pleased with this purchase and would not hesitate to buy from L.L.Bean again. I would describe this skirt as a smart classic chino skirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Azkathi from Great skirt Have been looking for a skirt (any skirt!) that would fit me in the waist and the hips. Usually, if a skirt fits in the hips, the waist is too large, and if it fits at the waist, it's too tight across the hips. This skirt actually fits me both places! It's also a good length (just as advertised, falling at the knee). The hidden waist is comfortable as well, and fits right at the waist (not easy to find these days). I'm 5'8" and about 140, and the 8 fits perfectly. I got the navy and the khaki and will probably order the stone. It's casual, but can be dressed up or down, depending on what type blouse and accessories you wear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by classicclothes from awful hidden comfort waist! I really needed a straight white [not ivory] cotton skirt for summer. Very hard to find. Reluctantly, I ordered the hidden comfort waist from Bean. I avoid that waist if I can as it causes the pockets to stick out at the top and it feels like a wad of hard material on each side. Most uncomfortable but if I hide it with a tunic, it will work. Bean used to have the just plain COMFORT waist, not hidden, and it was excellent. Now the shorts and the skirts all have this massive amount of material and elastic at the sides. Sorry Bean, I usually love your products but not the hidden comfort waist.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Iluvmycat from This skirt not for me I wore the original Bayside skirt about ten years ago. It came in two lengths and no pocket poaching due to the new style with a "comfort waist". I have tried going up a size and no luck I am 63, 5'5" and 150 pds. I've come to the conclusion that you have to have a young slender figure to wear this skirt. It looks great on the hanger - no pocket pouching. But if you need the "comfort waist" you will have problems with the pockets sticking out. Even if that was eliminated the skirt is too short It was my go to skirt and had it in many colors. I really miss the original "no comfort" skirts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CSfromSC from "Hidden Comfort Waist" Truly is Hidden I was a little wary of the comfort waist because elastic waist panels are not fashionable for my age group. I'm glad I took a chance on it, though, because this skirt is very attractive. The comfort panel is truly hidden, and wouldn't be noticeable to someone not looking for it, even without a belt. I'm between 6 and 8 and my waist is not all that much smaller than my hips, so at first I ordered 6P. I could put it on, but I returned it for 8P because that was more flattering. I'd suggest ordering the larger size if in doubt, because the adjustable waist looks trim at any size. For reference, I'm 5'4 and about 130 lbs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by pcsqueen from Waistband Needs Refinement Because I stand a little over 5'8", I purchased this skirt in both Regular and Petite. As I expected, the Regular hit me at an awkward spot at mid-knee; it looked frumpy. The Petite, however, was perfect, hitting just above my knee with the potential to be quite cute. Unfortunately, the waistband ruined everything; rather than conforming to my waist, it jutted up like a stiff clerical collar. With an un-tucked top (in this case a Bean 3/4 sleeve ballet neck) it looked flat-out bad. If Bean were to introduce the skirt with a different waistband, I'd certainly purchase it. For now, I'm going to give the Easy Stretch Twill a try, even tho it's not really the classic style I was after.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nama4 from Shape matters... I ordered this skirt in a regular 6, and it arrived yesterday. I love the quality. The size 6 is too small so I have returned it and ordered an 8. I find it helpful for people to put something about body size when giving a review. I am 5'3" and weigh between 122 and 125. My shape is more of a straight up and down shape, and I sometimes joke that my hips and waist are the same size. This size 6 was perfect from the waist down, no pocket gapping at all. The length hit me at mid-knee. I do not like clothes that are snug in the waist, and the size 6 was snug, despite the elastic. Hope this helps someone. I love the skirt and am excited to be getting the size 8 soon. If my shape describes yours and you like a snug waist, then you may want the size 6.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jerseygrl from Could be perfect except for type of pockets This skirt has many nice features. Good material, doesn't wrinkle much, has stretch for comfort. This would be my favorite summer skirt except for one problem - the type of pockets. Because it has slash pockets on the sides, they stick out & make you look "hippy" instead of giving you a streamlined appearance. The skirt is definitely not too small on me - it's a little loose in the waist and definitely not tight in the hips, so getting another size would not solve the problem. NOTE TO LL BEAN: this skirt would be perfect if it had FRONT WELT POCKETS instead of these slash pockets.
