Rated 1 out of 5 by Millie1239 from Flannel Night gown I read many reviews before I purchased this gown. Sadly, I did not get a gown that was described with by the glowing reviews. Not only did the length of the gown shrink drasticly, but the fabric feels like an antique flannel sheet after washing. I am a laundry freak. The only thing washed in hot water is towels and rags. I have a tumble front load machine; use a gentle soap and I have soft water in the house. The laundry load is not over packed yet this gown feels like sand paper. My dryer loads are always on extra low for 20 to 40 minutes only and are taken out immediately from tossing. I had no luck with this gown. So.....disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jude2323 from Beautiful! But thin flannel This nightgown is gorgeous! One of the most attractive nightgowns I've ever had. And well made. I will be wearing it on nights that aren't too chilly. I bought both this and the tartan flannel, and the LL Bean rep said they were the exact same fabric density. So I was surprised to receive them and find that the tartan is clearly thicker and warmer. I even called LL Bean to clarify that I did not misunderstand. Another rep repeated the fabric is identical. Certainly has me doubting my sanity. Because there is a clear difference. But I'm not returning either because I like both. And I can use nightgowns for different seasons. But you may want to keep this in mind...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Artiste from Cozy and ample fit This is not the fuzzy flannel that one would expect, but a more elegant weave that is not unlike fine linen with a very soft hand. The gown does not creep upward during sleep but it surrounds the legs and covers the arms so comfortably, that it does not require adjusting during the natural turns. The tucks in the front and back allow not only freedom but also the style is attractive on all figure types and it is modest enough that a robe cover is not necessary. I especially like the length which is a graceful cover just above the ankles. I must have one extra on hand that will be ready for travel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by EmloresNan from Like it, but it's ain't flannel! Wow! Was the fit of this gown a stark contrast to the 'cozy sleepwear nightgown ruffle' I'm sending back because it was too snug in the hips. This gown, which I ordered in the same size as the ruffle gown, is voluminous, almost too much so. I like the detail & the ease of the fit, & the fact that there's no big, bulky collar around the neck, but the fabric is definitely not what anybody would call flannel. I'd read the reviews before ordering & decided to give it a try in spite of warnings that the fabric isn't traditional flannel; since I like the fit & the design I'm keeping it anyway but wish it were heavier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NicknameStillAvailab from flannel nightgown This is the 3rd llbean vintage flannel nightgown i have purchased and used regularly through the years. I love the frill-free styling and the fact that it holds up well to daily use. I have only given 4 stars because, like many other reviewers, I so wish it were made of a heavier flannel. If this style were available in a heavy cotton flannel, it would be a 10 star item. The only heavy flannel nightgowns available are laden with lace and elastic. My choice was one like that or another from llbean, adding layers over and under. LLBean could remedy this by simply making a version that is heavy flannel. What's to lose? There are many of us who would love it and would likely be willing to pay more for it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by PacificNWHoney from Great Expectations and Fond Memories Made a nightgown just like this 35 years ago; so had both high expectations and fond memories of soft, cuddly, and warm. Received the LL Bean package yesterday. The gown was voluminous; ordered a PL; should have ordered a PM or PS. The fabric is unlike the flannel of the past, maybe because of fire retardant treatments needed today. And, when I pulled it over my head, I noticed a smell inside the gown; maybe that would go away when washed. Didn't really matter. The gown is going back: way too big; not what expected in terms of softness; and the smell should not have been there anyway. I'm an LLBean cheerleader and will continue to be.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LLBeanLass from Not What I Expected for Flannel I love the vintage styling of this nightgown. The styling is just what I am looking for; BUT... the fabric was so incredibly thin - I was shocked. I cannot imagine it being warm or lasting very long. It most certainly is not what you would think of when you hear the word "flannel". After seeing and feeling the fabric in person, I am not sure how "flannel" fits into the description. If this style could be made in a true, high quality flannel, I most certainly would purchase one, and likely two or three. Needless to say, I returned the gown. Will try PJ's instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tiggernbd003 from Beautiful Details I bought this nightgown to stay warm during our cold Colorado winters. We just had -14 degrees temperatures and I can tell you I was very warm! Two things to be aware of: First, the lavender color is significantly more muted than the internet picture. Secondly, I ordered the Petite size because I am only 5'3". However, I still had plenty of length for the Misses' (reg.). I exchanged the Petite for the regular Misses' length. Note that it was necessary to call LLBean for the lengths of the Petite and the Misses'. There is only a 3" difference. The Misses' regular fell just above my ankles, which is the length I wanted. I hope this is helpful information for short women about 5'3"-5'5".
