Rated 4 out of 5 by uk80grad from functional coat I purchased this coat specifically for commuting to work. I have to wait for the bus in snow/rain/cold situations in Colorado. I was shopping for a down coat with a hood and longer length. This coat fills all of those needs and is very warm as well. I would say overall that the coat is very functional and for all of the above. It is warm, covers my seat and is wind and water proof. the biggest negative is that the coat is very boxy and fits on the large size. I am a true medium in size. I ordered the medium and it runs on the large size. I think I could have purchased the small and been fine - even with a heavy base layer. One other suggestion is to add a drawstring to the waist to allow some adjustment for fit for a more trim look.

Rated 3 out of 5 by kwebster from Warm (So Far) So far (it's only November) this is a pretty warm coat. It fits well and seems well constructed. For the money, I was a little disappointed, though. I've had many much less expensive coats with more useful features than this. I guess you have to pay for that logo. - too few pockets - pockets are all too small - no waist or bottom adjustments - wrist openings are simple elastic - hood seems like an afterthought (thin, seems too small) - zipper catches on coat easily I wish the "Would you recommend this item to a friend?" question allowed a "Maybe" choice. That's about all I'd give it right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by colby0326 from Excellent Coat I live in the New York City area and received my coat as a present at the end of the year. At the same time, the weather got much colder in the area. I really enjoy this coat. I have purchased many LLBean coats over the years and this is by far my favorite. Even in very cold weather it keeps me warm. It is light and very comfortable to wear. It is also well made. The zippers and buttons all work well and the hood is a perfect fit. I purchased a medium and found it to be true to size. Even with a bulky sweater it fits very well. I could not go any size higher or lower. There is also ample pocket space for gloves and a hat, with additional space for my cell phone. I would highly recommend this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by outdoorluvrinMD from Love this coat!!! The bottom line: I bought this coat in Feb 2016 (see my detailed review from then) and was very impressed with it. I liked it so much, that when it was on sale recently, I had to buy a second one!! I will need one warm coat for occasionally working outside in cold weather (but the coat might get dirty, etc.), and one for wear to church, etc. So I figured I can use two. But this coat gives great value for the money spent!! Very very warm, well made, love it!! I chose the dark blue color this time (black is the other) and am very happy with it.

When You Sipped Up This Coat And Snap The Snaps Shut, Go OutSide In Really Cold Windy New England Winter Weather, And You Will Notice That This Coat Keeps Your Body Heat Trapped Inside And Just Keeps Recycling Your Body Heat Through Out This Coat, And Your Body Heat Can Not Excape, So ThereFore You Will Stay Toasty Warm For Hours. And Where I Live In New England It Gets Really Cold At Night, But Not With This Coat. Well Done LL Bean !!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Omayan2 from Men’s Trail Model Down Hooded Parka OK Purchased for my very picky 15 yr old son; parka very nice color; however, this parka is not as warm as described and the measurements are a little off. The parka fits both my 5'7" son, me (5'6"), and my 6'4" b/f. he has not worn it yet bc he says its not cold enough for it. However, I've worn it on very cold days with a fleece lined hood zipper jacket, a t-shirt, and long sleeve shirt underneath the parka and I was still cold. What would really help this parka is if it were fleece-lined like the Men's Trail Model Rain Jacket. I find the Men's Trail Model Rain Jacket, Fleece-Lined jacket MUCH WARMER than this parka esp with the fleece-lined hood and pockets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Nice Coat, Runs Large I got this for my husband. He likes how warm and truly lightweight the coat is. He said he wishes there were more inside pockets as well as a draw string at the bottom to cinch the coat in. He wears a medium in all of his clothing. He has a 32-33 inch waistband and this coat was very large on him. He could get two fist lengths under the stomach section of the coat. We are exchanging it out for a small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RandomPerson from Great Coat Terrific coat. Arrived on a day where we had 6" snowstorm. I normally wear XL Tall and this was true to size. Good fit, allowed full flexibility when playing with my kids in the snow. Comes just below the hip so my waistband stayed warm. I love the bigger hood. It has a sort of bill formed into it. If you tighten the drawstrings just a bit, it gives a sort of visor and keeps the snow out of your face. I had my previous coat (different brand and style) for 5 years and it's still in pretty good shape. One day of this coat and I'm ready to donate my old one!
