Rated 5 out of 5 by NYCDave from I Heart LLBean I was so excited to see these boots - my grandfather had the originals many, many years ago, which I inherited and finally wore out - hard to do with Bean's stuff. They're very comfortable, and I don't even have to use the laces, they fit that well. Plus their historical significance to me really adds to their value. I applaud LLBean for bringing back a timeless style. What has really endeared me to LLBean is that some odd things had happened with the shipping, a possible postal accident that resulted in only one boot arriving. But customer service was only too happy to resolve the problem with nary a hassle and sent me two new boots, and joined me in a good laugh about the whole thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HeartLLB from great boot - odd sizing Love this boot - style, design, weight. The sizing is absurd however. I'm a 10 and ordered a 9, which is still at least one half size too large. To get your "correct size", you need to account even further for whatever socks you intend to wear. We are advised to order down to account for the socks we wear, assuming all of us will wear super-thick ones. But rather than this, boot designers, why don't you just simplify things and make them (as you do your other shoes) true to size? We're all adults and can then account for whatever socks we believe we will be wearing with these. That would make ordering much easier, rather than trying to guess how you size them vs. our actual foot size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by nordiclike from A happy customer I got these so I'd have something suitable for a winter work-trip to the Sweden and Finland. The trip ended up lasting 3 weeks longer than anticipated, but my feet were very happy all the way through. As almost everybody comments, thick socks do the trick (and I've picked up a few more since then) to both keep your feet warm and fill the (wide and long) boots, but man if I don't miss the cold temps that justify sliding these things on for the day. The lacing (time? effort? dexterity?) complaint I've read in other reviews is a non-factor for me: I enjoy the lacing up and down. Speaking of which: fantastic laces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SouthernNJersey from Perfection I NEVER write reviews on anything. Even great things, I unfortunately never find time to write about, however it would be a crime for me not to say something. This boot is perfect. Light, warm, looks awesome, and feels amazingly comfortable. Do order a size down though. Additionally, Bean Customer Service has to be the best in the world. I spoke with real people, who knew my name without having to tell them, made returning the first pair virtually work-hassle-stress free. They even chatted with me about color, and ensured me that my new pair would be here by Friday at the latest and apologized I didn't get to use my first pair (too big) in latest storm that brought about a foot of snow. Like she actually told me this haha. Outstanding. Seriously they should win an award.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Overtonfisheries from Super Product I ordered a pair of the insulated boots first but since I live in Texas I found they were a little hot for me. Then before Christmas I ordered a pair of the Waxed Canvas Maine Hunting Shoes. I work outside with a lake management company and am usually walking in water or mud a lot of the time. The sole makes them very sure footed in wet areas. I am amazed these boots are as waterproof as they are. The waxed canvas really works well and I love the lightweight. Today it is in the 20's and I just have on a heavier pair of socks. No problem at all. I like them so much I ordered another pair with the Navy top to use for my time away from work. You will love these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by have2hike from These boots are sexy. Finally made the jump and got them. More expensive than I'd prefer, but at least I know I'm paying for quality. I thought they looked like the old school combat boots and thus awesome. They were backordered nearly two months, and came in early after about 2 1/2 weeks. Fit: Even though the comments said order down a size, I went with my gut and got my normal size. In thick socks they fit like a glove, haven't tried them with lighter socks yet, but I do plan on wearing them year round. Fashion: Wore them around the house for a full day, they felt like a dream. I took a nap in them! That night I wore them out to the bars, and even ended up on a dance floor in them. Not ideal, but they were comfortible, never once bothered me, and no one stepped on *my* toes ;# They're not as clunky as other boots I've got, in fact they're extreeeemely lightweight. Feels like sneakers. I got loads of comments from friends and strangers. Function: As if the universe wanted me to take these puppies for a real spin, my second day with them it rained. I intentionally walked through puddles for the first time since I was a child. Didn't feel a drop. Stomped through some snow too, traction isn't the best on ice, but I felt stable. Overall, I want to rate these 0 stars so no one else will buy them and I'll be even cooler for having them, but that just wouldn't be honest. I'll round my 4.5, #because of the traction,) up to a 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Santi from Great for the City I got a pair of these for Christmas and I love them. I live in San Francisco and these boots are great for tromping around. The rainy season is finally going to start so I am very happy to have these boots. They aren't lying when they say buy a size smaller. I am usually an 8 across the board so I got the 7 and even with heavy wool socks they are a little loose, but still comfortable. One problem I had is the fabric on top of the insole started to come off, I emailed customer service and quickly got a response that they would send me new insoles (All of this at 11pm PST!!!). Great boots and great customer service, L.L. Bean has a new customer for life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Darko from Excellent Boot I got my order extremely quickly. Ordered on a Tuesday, Delivered on a Friday. The boots even come with a card of who made them, now that's american made. One thing that surprised me about the boot is how extremely light the boot is. Maybe it's because of the waxed canvas, but the marsh brown looks exactly like the photos but lighter in weight (looks heavier in the photos). I usually wear a 8.5, but ordered a 7 as most boots tend to run 1-1.5 sizes large. It's still roomy, but enough for a thick sock. PERFECT!
