Rated 4 out of 5 by Entrepreneur10 from Great Dog Coat Bought this coat for our Shih Poo who doesn't like the cold. Have not had too many chances to use it as the weather has been very mild so far. However, the few times we had it on him, it did the job and kept him warm. Looked around online and compared other items. This appeared to be good quality at a reasonable price. If future changes are made, I would: 1-Add a few reflective strips for walking at night. 2-Add an additional Velcro strap so that the coat is better attached in the rear. As others have mentioned, the coat could be better secured in the rear thereby preventing cold air from getting in. All-in-all, the coat has good insulation & accomplishes the goal of keeping him warm.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jwong from Does not fit properly I was initially excited about this parka because I knew it would be the great LL Bean quality at an exceptional LL Bean price, but it ended up being a disappointment when we tried it on our pup. The material of the parka is well made and seems warm. We got the right fit by measurement, but it only had a small velcro strap at the bottom around the pup's chest and because of this, our pup looked like she was wearing a large cape. Not only did it look ridiculous, but there was no way that it would keep her warm because the bottom flared out so much. There also isn't any chest/stomach coverage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SkySky from Not acceptable for a warm coat Bought XL for my 65 lb standard poodle. It didn't work at all for her. The neck fit was OK and the valcro strap was an OK fit around her 33" chest measurement.(it would extend to a much larger size) However, the fit was not good for a winter coat. It was slipping and had to be adjusted as we walked. Also It wasn't enough coverage for a very cold day since it actually only sat on the top of her back and was very loose beyond the strapped area and near the hind legs and tail. It was cute and easy to use but the design of only one strap near the front legs made it ineffective. I returned it. I didn't want to take a chance on a smaller size because I didn't like the design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LoveLLBean90 from L.L.Bean Pet Parka, size Med., warm & great fit My terrier mix hates any sort of clothing (but I usually ignore her when it's 30 degrees or below#. Hence, I purchased this Pet Parka in a size medium for her. I still call her a small dog, but she's long & lean, 17 lbs., and about 19" from head/neck to tail. The fit is spot-on. Two comments, however: the strap keeps her coat on really well, but since it hasn't been used a whole lot yet, the coat somewhat puffs out to the sides, towards her rear end. I'm guessing this can be fixed after some light use. Also, it would be nice if there was a fleece lining for some added comfort. The coat is plenty warm, and I find it uses my dog's body heat to trap the warmth. Plus, this chili-pepper color matches my own coat! #We look super-cute together#. Long story short, I recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ponies4 from No Burs Alowed Finally, a dog coat that will not collect burs! Most coats on the market have a fleece lining that will quickly collect burs, hay and other prickly things. Our dog, a boxer, has a thin fur coat along with tender skin that would be easily irritated. Living in the country, there is no way to avoid contact with burs etc. This coat is quilted nylon on both sides with no fleece anywhere, just what I was looking for. Bright orange color helps us keep track of her in the woods.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Shopasaurus from Not shaped to fit a dog. I purchased LLBean's field coat for my 18 lb Havanese. It is perfect! Both he and I love it for cool weather. This parka however, is not sized properly. I ordered a medium, which fit him around neck and mid section, but it only came down half his back. This is supposed to protect a dog in cold weather. It would never do the job. Not worthy of LLBean label. I sent it back, and purchased one elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MSinBK from Loved it but didn't work for us The quality is super especially given the price. Didn't work for us because of sizing. My dog is about 14 lbs, and we initially ordered the Medium, which was way too big - I think suitable for a dog closer to 20-25 lbs. Returned it for the small, which looked appropriate for a dog 5-10 lbs and also went back. Wish there was something in between! Great customer service for easy returns as always.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CharlieinLLBean from Pet Parka Review I purchased this coat as well as the field coat from LL Bean for my golden doodle. He is wearing a size large in the pictures. This down coat is nice and comfy and keeps my doodle warm on long walks in the cold New England winter weather.
