Rated 3 out of 5 by outerlimitz from like it, but some issues One serious hike in to ownership. Like the pack overall, it was carrying 30+ lbs that didn't start to hurt at the waistband until about hour 4. Not an all-day weight hauler, but at this size and light weight heavy load hauling shouldn't be what you'd expect. I'm only giving it 3 stars because the waistband bottoms out at a 34 inch waist. If your waist is skinnier than this you will not be able to tighten down the waistband enough. I'm surprised they don't note this in the advertising. Also, I wouldn't call the fabric super silent. Not the noisiest, but not the quietest. Lots of straps and pockets, so it can carry more than the 1800 cubic inches advertised. Like the waistband pockets also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DowneastHunter from LL would have been proud! Hands down the best hunting day pack on the market. I've been researching hunting backpacks since last hunting season and was psyched when I found this. The weight distribution and lightweight design of this pack has made my days in the woods more enjoyable. When I hunt I spend all day in the woods regardless of the elements and I put in a lot of miles, especially in the early season. Admittedly I carry way too much "just in case" stuff (never know when you're going to spend a night in the swamp), but this pack has plenty of space and I don't think twice about tossing stuff in. My favorite features are the meshed back-panel (now my back doesn't overheat when I'm walking with my jacket), the waist strap + pockets (fits a GPS perfectly, + scent wafers, bleat can, etc.), the thinner shoulder straps (now I can shoot comfortably and accurately with the pack on), and all the pockets on the exterior of the pack (holds my thermos, and fits everything I'd ever need on a day hunt). Added bonus is the soft pocket (stuff my phone, head lamp, and photo viewer in there) and being able to strap my rifle on the back (worked great when I was heading out of the woods after dark). Haven't used the rifle mount but it was a clever touch. Because of the spring-steel frame, my bladder fits a little oddly in the water pouch but that's likely because I carry 2 liters of water in it. A 1.5 liter bladder that was only filled to 1.25 liters would be perfect. Before hunting in the rain, I put my extra clothes in a large zip lock bag as I wasn't certain how water resistant this bag was but I definitely did not need too; when I came out of the woods everything inside was still perfectly dry. The only recommendation I would have for product development would be to find a way to make the pack a bit more quiet. Though I'm unsure what exterior & zipper options are available, opening the pack on pack could be noisy if you weren't careful. Walking thru dense cover & brushing up against trees has potential to be loud. Overall, this is hands down my favorite Beans item (and I'm a wicked fan of the slippers and my Beans waders). I've already recommended it to a few friends and show it off whenever I get the chance. Looking forward to hiking with it in the summer months and many many more hunting trips. Thanks LL Bean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by ccart5 from Back pack review Just received this back pack and would like to say I would of liked to see the pack built in a quieter material. when in stalk mode hunting Elk, I think it should be quieter. Will give a more detailed report after the hunt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SKR6288 from Ideal whitetail hunting pack I received this pack in 2015 as a surprise gift from my brother and sons at the start of a week of big woods whitetail hunting north of Pittsburg, NH. I just returned from a successful 2016 hunting week in the Adirondacks, pursuing whitetails from my brother's camp and using the Big Game Pro Pack throughout both hunts. I cannot stress how pleased I am with this pack's performance. Over these 13 days of all-day hunting, which included rain, snow, and warm and cold weather requiring the donning and removal of clothing layers, this pack does it all. I carry a pedestal seat assembled, securely strapped to the pack using the delrin-buckle "wings". I can easily access water bottles or thermos in the side pockets. The interior department is large enough for raingear and extra layers, but not so large that it invites over-packing. The trampoline back panel allows air to flow between the pack and your back, keeping you cooler, especially in transit mode when your objective is to cover ground. Today, GPS allows hunters to travel to preferred hunting locations pre-dawn, and to remain in favored spots until it's too dark to shoot using headlamps for hiking in and out. In these instances, the abiity to securely carry your rifle strapped to the pack keeps both hands free to move brush and branches, and to arrest a slip or slide. Great design! I cannot think of an improvement to recommend. Congrats, LL Bean, and thank your for putting such good thought and research into this excellent pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by llbeanshopperrhunt from Very functional Just returned from a hunt in Spain and the pack was a perfect fit for my needs. Very comfortable and light weight, ample storage pockets. The full zipper feature allows for easy access to your items quickly. The back and lower straps are a big plus wen shedding layers. Great pack !
