Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Look no further I've been looking for a simple crew neck sweatshirt without a manufacturer's name splashed across the front and now I've found it. I'm 5'6" tall with 32" sleeves and a 38" chest. I like a relaxed fit shirt that doesn't hang down below my waist and without sleeves that would do credit to an orangutan. Based on other reviews I read I figured the medium in this shirt would fit me the best and I was right. The shirt's arms and waist lengths are just right. Besides an excellent fit, the shirt is well constructed with a fleecy inner that gives it warmth. At $35 with free shipping these shirts are a bargain. I ordered two of them and I'm glad I did.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rainwaterman from Disappointed in quality I found this sweatshirt to be below LL Bean's normal standards of quality, and returned it for a refund. The primary problem is that the fleece lining sheds a lot of lint. We washed the shirt according to directions and everything else in the load was covered with gray lint, which did not all come off in the dryer. Wearing it over a dark T-shirt after washing, I found the T-shirt covered with fuzz and lint from the sweatshirt. The sleeves had also shrunk slightly in length. I had previously purchased a Katahdin Iron Works sweatshirt from LLB and was very happy with it - no problems like this one - but they no longer offer the KIW shirt in crew neck. This one is a poor substitute.

Rated 2 out of 5 by IowaSoul from Disappointlingly not the same as previous models. Have been buying these previously excellent sweatshirts for decades. Two navy sweatshirts I just purchased are not the same as previous ones. The material is not the same all cotton as before, but close enough as to not be an issue. However, the banding around the cuffs and waist are loose, making this a deal breaker. Either they are cut larger, or do not have the elastic that was in previous models. After 25 wash/dry cycles, the cuffs and waist banding has not changed. The cuffs hang loose like they are all stretched out and slip down over my hand. The waist is the same size as the body of the sweatshirt, not slightly smaller, so as to hug the waist. Instead it hangs like a huge sack. Sad to see the quality of these previously excellent sweatshirts sacrificed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Schmeezle from Buy This Item! The Crewneck Athletic Sweatshirt is a very well made, comfortable pullover. Shrinkage is minimal if appropriate care is taken and the colors will fade slightly, giving the garment a comfy, broken-in appearance. The fit is true, and unless you want the shirt to fit very loose, there is no need to "size up". Even it you do order a size larger than you normally take, the fit is not sloppy but rather comfortably loose. This is a really nice looking pullover that looks good with jeans, chinos, or workout clothes. It's very well made and looks & feels like it will last a long time. Order several colors and you have some great weekend/after-hours tops.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kukakuka from Great sweatshirt but oh, my, the sleeves...! This sweatshirt is well-made and heavy enough to keep me warm on cool days, but the sleeves are so wide! Granted, I'm very short and on the stocky side and I know most sleeves will be too long, but rarely have I encountered such w-i-d-e ones. Push them up and I look like a sumo wrestler/Mr. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! I ordered two and am keeping them anyway because they're fine otherwise and I might have the sleeves narrowed and shortened.... By the way, my over 6' tall husband tried one on and of course it looked nearly perfect on him!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marcade from The perfect sweatshirt Once the temperature begins to drop, I practically live in my LL Bean sweatshirts. These are classic in style, very comfortable, and 91% cotton. Dark colors should be washed separately, perhaps a couple of times, after that you can wash them with your other laundry. I haven't noticed any shrinkage. If you like sweatshirts for workouts or casual wear or whatever, these will last you much longer than thiner, cheaper sweatshirts. If they didn't add a little bulk, I'd be temped to wear them with a suit. I currently own and wear 4 in different colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NN4CR from Perfect for guys I am a female and purchased one of these sweatshirts when I noticed other women were doing so. LLB might want to consider making the exact same thing but to a woman's sizing specs. These are great, well-made shirts. The fabric is thick, soft and cozy. The cut is roomy. The details like hem and cuffs, collar triangle are excellent. They are the dream of what a woman wishes our sweatshirts were, but never are. I had to send mine back. The shoulders for a man are broader, the arms wider and longer, the length longer the neck wider. Unless a woman wants a very sloppy shirt, this will not do. Of course, LLB is offering a man's shirt! I realize I was taking a chance. But after noticing so many girls, along with myself, being attracted to this "classic" sweatshirt, I just hope to alert others and maybe give LLB a hint about making a "real sweatshirt" for the rest of us.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JJM277 from Too much shrinkage My old LLBean sweatshirts finally wore out and I replaced them with what I thought would be shirts of the same quality and durability. I washed the new shirts prior to wearing and followed the wash instructions as listed on the care tag. Just the same as my old shirts, cold water, low dryer. My new shirts are now at least 1 full size smaller. This is not good as I wear size 2x and LLBean did not have my shirts in a larger size. My old shirts were washed in the same manner for several years and kept their original size. I am very disappointed with this purchase.
